Question about Toshiba Satellite M305-S4815 Notebook

1 Answer

The units sometimeswill not start, when the power button is pressed, it won't light all leds and will stay like that, I have to press the power button again until it turns off and then try again, If I'm lucky in one of those tries it would start normally, after doing so, it may be restarted several times without problem, after a while it would doing againg, I'm suspecting a false contact somewhere in the power section of the motherboard. I had to replace the hard drive do to bad sectors in the old one, after replacement I was never able to turn it on, I had to put the old drive back. It continues with unexpected failure to turn on. Please advise

Rather than the power button I would say the MB itself, ussually the power buttons are in a separate small board connected to the mother board through a cable, don't you think?, in any case do you know where i can find the service manual that shows the disassembly procedure so I can get to that area of the button.

    Thanks

Hi! Yes i suspect the power button contact too. You may try cleaning it for it may be dusty. I had an experience just like that but it only happens when the battery charger is not connected. But its all good when the charger is connected. Hope this helps and have a good one!

Definitely right, Check the motherboard for any blown fuse. That will require motherboard replacement. But regarding the power button connected to the motherboard, if you can find the connector you may just need to clean it for it may be corroded thats why its loosing contact.

Panasonic air con - when you turn the air con on it runs for about 3 mins and then the timer light flashes. Air con will not work.

• Once abnormality has occurred during operation, the unit
will stop its operation, and Timer LEDs blink.
• Although Timer LED goes off when power supply is turned

do the following steps: God bless you
To start test program, press and hold both POWER SCRUB PLUS and RINSE & HOLD program buttons, then turn unit on by pressing ON/OFF button. When program buttons are released, lights above them will flash. To end test program, press ON/OFF button. To check program indicator lights (POWER SCRUB PLUS, REGULAR WASH and RINSE & HOLD), press and hold each program button. When REGULAR WASH program button is pressed, CLEAN light also comes on.
To start testing, press both POWER SCRUB PLUS and RINSE & HOLD buttons a second time. When testing has ended and a fault was detected, the following indicator lights will be lit:
POWER SCRUB PLUS = Heater fault
REGULAR WASH = Water filling fault (over or under filling)
RINSE & HOLD = NTC (temperature sensor) fault ? note circulation motor stops shortly after it started during an NTC fault
To check for heater, high limit or flow switch problems, start testing until heating starts. Using a meter with a current coil, measure current going into dishwasher. If current is ~ 11 A, then heater, high limit and flow switch are OK. If current stays at ~ 1.5-2 A, then heater, high limit or flow switch are faulty.
If water level switch (f1) has failed (opened), REGULAR WASH light will come on and unit will continually fill and drain where testing won't be completed. If flow switch (e5) has failed (opened), water won't heat (to 150?F) and water won?t stop circulating. If NTC probe (f2/f4) has failed (opened), RINSE & HOLD light will come on immediately and testing will end shortly after water has started circulating.
If more than one fault occurs, more than one light will be lit.

Do not know how to program the systemlink3 universal t,v. remote control to my t.v.

Option 1:
To clear things up and make it simple, here is how to program the RCA Systemlink 3 remote:
****WITH DEVICE TURNED ON****
  1. Press and hold the "Code Search" button until the LED lights, then release. LED will stay light.
  2. Press and release the device key to be programmed. LED will go off when button is pressed and back on when released. LED remains on.
  3. Press and release the remote On/Off (power) button as many times as required to turn your device OFF.
  4. When device turns OFF, press and release the ENTER button.
Test remote on device, if ALL functions do not work, repeat above procedure.
***IMPORTANT NOTE***Count how many times you press the On/Off button. If ALL funtions do not work and you need to repeat, you don't want to stop at the same non-working code. For instance, if it takes 23 times to turn your device off and after testing, the remote does not control all functions, repeat steps 1-3 BUT when the device turns off at the 23rd time, turn it back on using the power button ON THE ACTUAL DEVICE then continue with step 3 and 4 from above.

Option 2:

Thanks for the hints on your web site. For the RCA SystemLink 3 with the key pad, I could not get the sequences described to work. But they did point me in a direction which worked for my remote:
  • With the TV on (for TV)
  • Press and hold code search until the light stays on
  • Press TV (for TV) button once
  • Press the on/off button once
  • Thereafter, the light will stay lit and every couple to three seconds it will blink twice indicating it is trying another code.
  • When the TV turned off, I pressed enter. Thereafter the unit worked.
