Question about Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router
You want to secure the wireless network.
Is there any computer connected to the router with the Ethernet cable?
If not then you will need to connect the computer to the router with the cable.
Check the IP address on the computer. Open the router set up page.
Once you open the set up page, you will find the option to make it secured

It sounds like your router is set up fpr WEP which does require a 27 digit key to connect. you should follow the directions HERE to configure your router to use WPA instead, it requires a shorter key and has stronger encryption. the first section is how you have it configured already scroll down to the section titled "Setting-Up the Wireless Router to Use WPA" and that should be a shorter key....
