All of the sudden I'm getting blurry pictures? What could be the reasons?

Possible reasons: 1) you are moving the camera when taking pictures, 2) make sure the lens is wiped clean of fingerprints, etc., 3) if taking pictures through glass (i.e. car windshield), make sure the glass is clean and 4) if taking pictures from a vibrating object (i.e. a running car), turn off the car to eliminate the vibration. The curvature of a vehicle's windshield COULD also distort your photos.

Nikon coolpix troubleshooting

Not knowing exactly what coolpix you have, I only can give a general answer.
Be aware that most coolpix cameras with zoom have Vibration reduction. Always when you put a camera on a tripod, you should switch of the Vibration reduction. (even on the most expensive cameras or with a DSLR on its lenses)
Because when the vibration reduction is on, there is a part in the lens that is always moving and the movement will be guided in the correct direction when the detector senses a movement.
When you use a zoom lens it is wise to switch the vibration reduction on, as soon as you are taking pictures without tripod. It can compensate shake of the camera, so you can shoot with slower shutter speeds as without the reduction. But the pictures are never as sharp as shot from a tripod, without vibration reduction.

DSC-T20 Sony Cyber Shot Camera that vibrates like a cell pohne. The vibration does not allow for a good picture it all. Could it that the anti vibration system of the camera goes into a full mode trying to...

Hi!
The problem you have is a faulty image stabilizer. It's a well known problem in these cameras. It's a hardware fault and I'm afraid you won't be able to fix it yourself. Usualy it requires the lens unit to be replaced. You should contact your local Sony service center or me at toms.safranovs@gmail.com - I give the best prices. ;)
I work in a Sony service center.

Hope this helps!

Vibrating and shaking

the sstepper motor of the focus assembly has slipped out of its track. that motor is a very powerful one which can cause the vibration.  once u change the mode to take the picture the motor should run in both direction to make some calibration. you cannot disable it. in the preview mode the optical assembly returns to it closed position and then the motor is switched off.
since it is a cybershot you need to be very careful in handling the camera if you have any plan to open it. it is recommended to be taken to the nearest service centre. any way the wheels might need replacement

The camera keeps vibrating by itself

if its vibrating i would think its something mechanical. this isnt my forte but it sounds like when you turn your camera on the lens covering opens up and for some reason the gears that open it continues to rotate. if your comfortable about tearing things apart look in that area. better yet since its new let the warranty take care of it. this is not a solution just a hunch. let me know how it works out im curious.

Vibration alert - blurry pictures

sigswr50,

The vibration alert flashes when the lighting conditions are poor and the flash is turned off. You can still take pictures in this mode and if teh camera is well stable, the pictures will be sharp. In low light conditions like indoors, turn on the flash or set the camera to Auto mode.

sigswr50 and xenolette
You need to let the autofocus time to focus. Press and HOLD the shutter button HALF WAY and wait for the white rectangle on the LCD display to turn green. Then press the button all the way down to take the picture.

Blurred pictures

I had the same problem. The solution is in the manual but it is not straight forward. You have to set steady shot to auto when the shutter button is pressed half way down. The vibration warning will still show. At this point the camera is sensing low light. The to need to make sure the flash is set to always on. The flash setting for background will not turn the vibration warning off.
