Question about Hitachi 42HDS69 42 in. Plasma Television

1 Answer

All of a sudden-the color has gone darker and it doesn't appear that there is any red color in the picture. When I try to go to color management-it won't let me increase the red. Is this a circuit problem that needs to be replaced?

Yeah there is a integrated circuit that need to be replaced on the H board. Not fun work at all!!!!

I would stress to you that your are going to be paying alt more then what you paid me to diagnose this issue. $350 in repair bills not what I call a easy pay solution.

if you live in these guys area teexrp.com they can help you with this huge repair bill. If there is a warranty you can have all or most of this covered.

when in doubt get a estimate from a local repair shop. Trust me i wish there was a magic wand in your case but there is not.

please do click the accept button for my efforts.

Red doesn't seem to be working properly, but doesn't appear to be a bad projector.

The red CRT tube is failing. They are rated at 3000 hrs of operation. Check the red CRT face to see if there is a lot of dirt on it or has a discoloration on the inside of the coolant chamber. These tubes are scarce and expensive. You may want to consider a new TV.

MY TV PICTURE HAS GONE A LITTLE DARKER AND ADJUSTING BRIGHT, CONTRAST, COLOR,ETC. DOES NOT HELP

How long u have this RCA analoge tv?Around 10 years or more and used it like about 5 or 6 hrs everydays?Yes,than ur tv it is losing CRT tube radiation cohetion.As times go bye years in years out the tv CRT-(tv tube) radiation will slowly dying out,Tv actual pictures will lost some of it luster and it brightnesses to the tv auctual pictures.Brightnesses of CRT tube will get darker and darker until the tv actual pictures barely it is watchable anymore.Contrast,Brightness and Colors adjusting more will help some.But u have to take this tv aparts and take a Flat scerw driver turn up a little bit more of the tv HV-(high voltage) SCREEN button on the FBT-(flyback transformer) to make any big differences of the CRT tube brightnesses.The FBT-(flyback tranformer) is the big block of plastic with a red wire with a black cap hook up to the tv CRT-(tv tube).This adjustment on of the FBT,HV-SCREEN button will help the tv CRT-(tv tube) last another year or two.

My E771 monitor colors suddenly shifted with

Possibilities:
1. video-card gone bad;
2. video-cable gone bad;
3. video-cable not tightly-connected to CRT;
4. video-cable not tightly-connected to video-card;
5. "red" gun inside CRT gone bad.

Disconnect the video-cable from the computer, and try again to adjust the "red". If red-free, then it's time to responsibly recycle the CRT.

Reconnect & wiggle the video-cable, to see if that induces any "red" onto the CRT.

Connect the CRT to the VGA-output port on a notebook computer, to see if that video-card generates "red" as one of the primary colours.

Give the CRT a strong "whack" on the side, to see if "red" makes an appearance.

DVD connections have progressively grown darker and now have gone to totaly black and white. Television color and picture are completely normal.

If you are using the red,green and blue component inputs, check to make sure the red and blue ones are connected good and none of the jacks are loose. If not there is a problem with either the DVD player or the TV. Hard to say. Thanks

Red outlines around, and zigzagging thru the picture.

If you were to put an all white image on the screen, would there be evidence of this red color in the picture? If so, its likely that the light engine has gone bad. One or more of the LCD panels inside has been damaged by the heat from the lamp. This is an expensive part to replace. It never hurts to contact the manufacturer for assistance.

My screen has gotten much darker

use the advanced options page and reset the factor blue and red convergence defaults then do re apply the auto color defaults color at first it seemed very red (which is good because red was the missing factor in the green picture) but after reseting all the color and tints to the normal ranges I then reset the color auto correct again and all seems fine.

Too much green color

Problem solved. I tried playing DVD and the TV picture was fine. So I double-checked cable wires from cable box - one of the wires was loose (obviously it was the red color input). After tightening, the TV picture is good as new.
