Question about Panasonic Viera TH-42PX80U Plasma TV
The red light is by the start button. I can unplug then plug in the TV and sometimes
it will turn on but usually the red light just blinks.
Ur power supply board is dead,have problems with componnents call capacitors,they have bulges,puff up it top and leakage it gases.That why u getting iregular power to ur tv set.U know basic electronic's,and soldering?Take ur tv aparts,search all around ur power supply board,to replaced these bulges,and puff up capacitors.Ur tv power will return to normal operation.Or tries websites like Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com to buy a refurbish power supply board for the replacement.

Your TV is in Protection Mode right now. A part inside the TV has failed and the TV will not turn ON to prevent other parts from being damaged. The red light blinking is an error code for diagnosing the problem part on the one of the power supply boards. The problem boards that need to be looked at is the Backlight Inverter Board or the Main Power Supply Board.
There is a slim chance you can leave the TV unplugged for an hour so the TV can discharge and reset itself. But other than that, I would use the warranty if possible. The TV repair shop maybe expensive, so get some price quotes to see if it worth the trouble.
