I believe that what you mean is 'Waste Ink Tank Is Full' error on Canon MP520.
To fix this problem, first you need to reset waste ink counter of the printer then you should replace the ink absorber with new one.
In order to reset waster ink counter properly, you can read complete procedure how to reset waste ink counter of the printer below:
When the printer is not being used, the print-heads slide to their "resting" position,
in order to keep the ink-jets moist, i.e., to NOT dry-out.
Some ink is absorbed into that INK-ABSORBER.
Now, after a few years of usage, that ink-absorber is "full".
Like taking-out the garbage from your kitchen waste-basket when it gets full, and replacing the full waste-basket with an empty waste-basket, it's time to get your printer serviced -- replace the "full" ink-absorber with an "empty" ink-absorber.
Note that CANON printers do not actually "measure" the fullness -- they electronically estimate the fullness, given information about how much you print, and how often you print, and the "density" of the pages that you do print (text is much less dense than colour-photos).
The waste ink absorbers are a couple of pads at the bottom of the printer. Contact Canon (or a service center) if you want to buy a replacement (not all manufacturers sell them). It can be hard to reach the pads but give it a shot. If you are reusing the pads, rinse them with running water until it runs clean. Then once they are dry, reinstall them and put the printer back together.
Then you need to reset the printer waste ink counter: With the printer connected to power but not on, press the Power button while holding the Stop/Reset button. When the power light is lit, continue to hold the Power button and press the Stop/Reset twice. Release both button (in any order). The printer will now enter the service mode. When the green LEDs are lit, press the Stop/Reset button 4 times to get to the Waste ink counter reset. Reset this value. Then press the power button (saves the setting) and then restart the printer.
The waste ink absorber is getting full. Press the OK button to clear the error. Printing can be done until the waste ink absorber becomes full. If the waste ink absorber becomes full, please contact your local Service Center for replacement of the absorber and machine maintenance.
