Question about Lincoln Electric K1170 AC-225 Stick Welder

1 Answer

I just got my first Lincoln Arc AC 225,my question is what's the cheapest way to wire it up so I can weld. I have a building that is 75 feet from the house that has no power going to the building and this is where I want to do my welding. The welder says 50amps on the front plate.

You would have to run a 3 wire cable size 8 awg minimum to handle 50 amps at 75 feet.

Check the dial indicator. Sometimes if someone changes the amps while welding, there will be a break in the coil. It will work at a different setting as long as you are away from the break.

Welder is not sending strong arc

maybe its your volts too. make sure you are grounded properly and clean from debri's, strike the electrode like a match and keep the arc close to your work-piece. dont go too fast and make sure your not wearing to strong of a lens in your hood. gold lens number 10 are the best for 7018 rods.
