Here's something that has worked in the past. Turn the Master ON/OFF switch to OFF. Unplug the unit from the wall outlet and wait 12 - 15 minutes before plugging it back in. Once it's plugged back in turn the Master ON/OFF Switch to ON and set the controls as you normally do.I f everything now functions as it should, the unit reset itself.
If that doesn't solve the problem contact the Oreck Service Dept that did the tuneup for you.
Wiping it off won't clean the filter. I submerse mine in hot soapy water ( oxiclean w/any favorite multipurpose liquid cleaner.Let it air dry completely before placing it back in unit.I have tried the dishwasher method and it didn't clean it.I also thoroughly wash all crevices of the unit.If red light doesn't go off, reclean the filter(s). It has all ways worked for me.
My ionair cleaner doesn't clean the air what so ever. All four filters are perfectly clean after running for over two months. All of them are properly inserted and seated as specified. No filter warnings turn on and the unit works in all other ways. There is an ongoing fire in the hills nearby and our house if full of hazy smoke.

The reason why Sharper Image went out of business is because the Ionic Breeze was proven to be ineffective product and harmful to use in some cases based on Consumer Reports data as well as data from the EPA. They sued Consumer Reports, lost the case, and had to pay all the legal bills.
The Consumer Products Safety Commission is going to making decision on all ionizers by the end of the year. It's quite possible that no one will be selling them anymore.

This product should have been regulated a long time ago. Orek and few others are going to be pulling the plug on them real soon.
Sharper Image no longer supports Ionic Breeze machines. They recalled them a few months back since Consumer Reports and the EPA has determined that they weren't working and can even cause health hazards during usage. Sharper Image sued an lost forcing the company in bankruptcy.

A newly installed system should still be under the contractor's labor warranty. Call them and ask them to come out to check on the unit and explain what you wrote above. This should cost you nothing and is the best way to get to the bottom of the problem.
