I bought a 55 inch Rear Projection Mitsubishi HD TV yesterday 2002 year, It worked fine at the guys house but now today since I got it home the picture has a couple flickering lines on the screen in all the AV's and all the menus. The only thing not flickering is the DTV antenna menu, the DTV component however is flickering. Please help

The AV board is the board connecting to the external cable/antenna on TV. It cannot just be replaced like that . It must be tested and eventually replaced by a technician.

Try connecting to an external DVD. If the external DVD does not flicker and is OK, just get an external direct TV box that is working. Call DTV to get one.

If the external dvd is flickering with the DVD, test a differnet connection cable. In that case internal parts must be tested, and the job is suitable for a technician.

Start testing with different cables, external DVD or console, and eventually get a new DTV box.

Hi:
If you mived the set yourself, then you might want to have someone or yourself open the unit and make sure no boards popped out of its connections, especially the A/V input board, this could of been done while moving the set or during transportation, check all connectors to make sure none of the connecting plugs have come partically out of their sockets, the bumpy roads and pot holes may of jarred one or two loose. Especially check around the Optics engine assembly for loose connections. My best guess at this point is the A/V board area where this board connects to the main signal board.

    Hi:

The A/V board is the board you make all the input connections to such as the DVD etc.

The optics engine is usually in the center of the television. I don't suggest you remove the optics engine unless you have knowledge of how its done. I would suggest you just take a close look around inside the set to see if any plugs have came off or slightly dislogged itself and make sure all boards are seated firmly.

I just bought a 55 Inch Rear Projection HD Mitsubishi TV. 2002 model year. It appeared to work fine yesterday at the guys house before I bought it then I brought it home and I have a flickering going on....

It's not a banged-out connection, something is wrong with the analog inputs (and only them, the rest of the tv is ok) - probably caused by a faulty capacitor either in the corresponding power line or the signal path itself, normal problem for a tv of that age. You will gonna have to open it and see where the problem is.

Mitsubishi VS-60805 Rear Projection won't operate in HD mode with Cable Box

Since this is an older first generation (1999) HD TV it may not be compatible with newer HDTV receivers because the standards back then were different - Make sure the HD cable box is plugged into the HD component inputs on the back of the TV (not the DVD inputs) and that the menu setting on the TV is set to DTV (not RGB) video. This TV will only accept 480i and 480p signals on the DVD input. Also the HDTV input will only accept 480i,480p and 1080i (it will not work with a 720p signal, make sure your cable box is not set to that mode)
