Question about NetGear RangeMax WPN111 802.11g/b Wireless Adapter
I'm trying to download a game over Steam. The download will start normally, and continue at the 600 kbs range for a while. After a couple of minutes, the speed will quickly decline. It would go from 650 to 560 to 400.. and so on until it hits 0. When it hits 0 I lose my wireless connection and need to unplug and plug back in my adapter and the same pattern will repeat. Is there a way to fix this?

Try these first:
change channels to 1-6-or 11. Make sure you change all of your wireless computers.
check is to make sure you are NOT using "IEEE 802.1x authentication for this network."
You can find at setting under "Wireless Network Connection Properties" and then under "Authentication" tab of your network properties.
This particular authentication method is periodically logging you off the network and re-authenticating.
Check the adapter in device manager to make sure that windows is not shutting the adapter down to save power.
Cordless phones and wireless ethernet cards use overlapping frequencies.As a test, you can unplug the AC cords from all the cordless phones in the area and see if it helps.
Are you using the VISTA adapter driver on the disconnecting computer?

In this case can you please tell me what is your wireless router and how may computer do you have so we can check if this is a problem with the wireless router or with the netgear wireless adapter. because if you only have 1 wireless computer so the problem here is with the wireless router we may need to change some wireless settings like the wireless channel .....

check for firmware update for your adapter...since it usb..u need to put it in open..i believed the USB extension is included when u purchased that.
do not connect the USB adapter to a USB hub unless the HUB is powered so that it can performed better. Connect it directly to your PC slot

Sounds like the usb ports are sharing an I/O channel. So when you unplug one usb device the CPU is being told that the USB port is not being used.....Maybe..... To test this, hardwire into a data cable and plug in different devices, next unplug a devise and see what happens. If you stay connected you may have found your answer. Unfortunately I don’t think a reimage or restore will fix the problem. If you get the same result try a reimage of your OS. Good luck.
Again sound like a mother board issue.
Questions to ask, When did I notice the problem (Maybe able to restore to the point the problem started.) and did I install new software or hardware when this happened?

So you are using windows Vista and the wireless connection is dropping.
Do you have any other wireless computer which is working properly ?
If the other wireless is working properly then the problem is with the wireless adapter. Now you have already upgraded the drivers, then there is nothing much we can do.
If you do not have any other wireless laptop working wirelessly, then try to bring another wireless laptop in the network and check whether it works properly.
If you face the same problem on that computer also that means the router might be having problem
