When I load a game, the screen shows Sony Entertainment, and then prompts you to hit enter, then it takes you to another screen where past game histories have been saved and so I click past each but it doesn't allow me to play the game. It stays on that same screen?

Re: ps2 slim issues
When the disk starts up there is a section of data that tells the ps2 that it is an original ps2 disk. Your ps2 is not recognizing the code. You will probably need to replace the system or take it to a professional.
A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

This information is found on your PC. Follow these steps to find it:Windows NT, XP, and Vista Users: 1. Hold down the Windows button, and press "R". 2. The run command prompt box will appear. In this window, type in "CMD" and hit enter. 3. On this black screen (command prompt), type "ipconfig/all" and hit enter.

Use your restore disk, or if you have a Windows OS disk, bootup with that. When you see the screen that gives you an option to "Repair Windows" hit the "R" key. You will be taken to a DOS prompt. Choose the Volume you want to repair (Usually number 1) then it will prompt you for an Administrator password. If you have never put one on the system, simply hit Enter. The it will take you to "C:\Windows" Type in the following... "CHKDSK /R" (without the quote marks and hit Enter. Let chkdsk utility see if it can repair the volume. It will prompt you when it is finished.
It sounds like you hard drive is starting to crash. Try your HD in a different PS3 and see if it does the same thing. The HD in a PS3 is the same thing that is in a laptop computer and they go bad just like the laptops do.
If you can get to it without it freezing use the System Restore function under:
If you can't get to it because of freezing you should put your hard drive
into another PS3. It will see it as a new drive and prompt you to
format it. Afterwards put it back into your PS3 and it will do the same
It doesn't matter which PS3 yours or the one you put your hard drive into, they're all the same as far as the process goes.
The hard drive is bust m8, you should remove the drive and take it to a local computer store and ask them 2 format the drive for you. When they come back and say the drive is unreadable ask them what replacements they have, i upgraded 2 a 160gig for £40.
