Question about Sony FD Trinitron WEGA KV-32FS120 32" TV

1 Answer

Sony KV32HS420 My 32" Sony lost its picture. I turned it off and then on which helped get the picture back. Then it cut out with a greenish color and then turned to black. I unplugged the TV. After a few minutes...plugged it back in and turned it on. No picture appeared on screen. A loud clicking/grinding sound came from the TV. I then unplugged it. A few minutes later there was a smell as if there was some sort of electrical fire. That was it....I've had enough.

Good day.
I believe there may have been some parts that were burned out due to high voltage. There are cases where insects such as lizards penetrated and got stuck then got stuck then got electrecuted inside. You can open the back cover of your unit or better, refer to the repairman.

Picture is greenish hue and cannot be changed from menu bar

The greenish hue cannot be adjusted from the menu. One has to do it from inside.First confirm by turning the color settings to zero using the remote. You should get a clean black and white image with no traces of any color ( inc: green ). If your TV is greenish , the green drive on the base of the picture tube has to be trimmed.
All you need is a screwdriver. There are dangerous voltages inside a TV, some as high as 27,000 volts !!!. Where the color adjustment has to be done there are voltages as high as 110 volts and 8000 volts. If you still want to make the adjustments yourself revert back for instructions

My model no ar 21m83i was purchased it 4 yrs before but 8 months before and till now the picture of my tv very poor picture color is like greeneesh type

good day to you friend. in the beginning i would check the color transistors on the circuit board on the back of the crt neck. it has been a while since i have had to deal with these, but i believe it is supposed to be around 5v per transistor. if one of these are completely off in voltage from the other two then suspect that one to be at fault..if you are checking for resistance then you could do that also. make sure all power is off and the voltage has been drained from the set. check the caps by the color ic also with an esr, or use your ohmmeter.test your color ic for correct voltages that could cause erratic color problems. i personally believe that you are having problems with your green color amp on the back of your crt neck. it is gradually going out that is why it is turning a greenish color. thank you for reading and please rate my solution.

Poor picture and color quality

Maybe the tube needs degaussed? Was there a magnet next to it? A degausser will fix that.

Zenith TV- greenish color

If you take off the back of the TV there are additional tuning buttons. One is for the focus. I have a model SY2551S and have the green tint problem. Have you resolved that?

This may be a bad crt or picture tube. Take a good look at the picture when it's on and see if it has a pinkish or greenish tint. This is easiest to see if you turn the color adjustment all the way down. If it looks like the tint is green or pink and the focus isn't great then it's probably a bad crt. Not worth repairing if its the tube.

Picture is going fuzzy and blinking red light...

This is the classic symptom of a CRT (picture tube)that is starting do get weak. The picture takes longer and longer to come on, it appears greenish and blurry, and it blinks on and off in different scenes, and when it is off the timer LED blinks 5 times. Sony has a circuit called "IK Blanking" which monitors and adjusts the colors in the picture tube, and shuts the picture off when the tube is getting too weak. The good news is that the Sony tubes always respond beautifully to a CRT rejuvination (recharge), and the picture returns to perfect. Since the set is 36 inches and VERY heavy, it should be serviced in-house and an appropriate charge for a service call for your set should be around $150.
