Question about LG 37LC2D Television

1 Answer

LG 37LC2D HDMI no signal (picture or sound) + crackling on audio

HDMI input worked for months but now shows "no signal" giving no picture or sound via HDMI input. Tried new cable and with SKY+HD box and HDMI laptop as the signal source but symptoms the same. Now watching SKY+ on AV3 input but this has crackling on audio since the HDMI fault, sometimes very loud crackling and also even crackles when volume on 0 or muted!

Hope someone can give some pointers before i take the back off..

Thanks
Ian

also tried factory reset and when scanning for channels on its re-boot it only finds the Analogue TV channels then stops at 50% not finding any DTV channels at all.. have to downpower to exit as it seems to lock up. Also locks up if manually trying to enter the menu item "station/auto program" goes to blank screen after a few seconds - cycle power to recover.

I have since fiixed all my problems above - check (and replace) all the electrolytic caps on the power supply board (use high temperature ones for long life) - a few of these were dried out and low in value - now perfect sound and picture again! HDMI, DTV and sound crackles all caused by these faulty PSU caps.

    hope this helps others

i replaced them all on the psu board as half of them had dried out.. i like my repairs to be solid! Could just swop the low reading ones tho as some are more prone than others (near heatsink or high ripple current useage) RS and Farnell have suitable replacements, but as long as they fit size-wise (some would be too big physically) and volt/uF the same or a bit more they will be ok. hope you have sucess.. this has got to be a common fault im sure..

I have the same problem. i think they just get old, i solved the audio problem by taking the cove off the back and disconnecting the speakers, i now just use PC speakers, works grand. i haven't solved the HDMI problem yet..

hi - i have the same problem, i checked a few of the caps and got no reading so replaced, but did you replace all of yours?

  • Ping192 Apr 07, 2011

i replaced almost all of them.. half were very low in value. RS/Farnell do suitable hi-temperature replacements. Check physical size as some may be too big to fit space and can obv. use higher voltage types if needed for availibility.. for what it costs when u DIY this is a solid cheap repair.

good luck fixin ur LG! :)

Our LG television seems to not be processing signal properly, the picture and sound is very slow and sounds distorted. When connected the playstation comes up with no signal. What could be wrong?

a few issues , you need to use the appropriate cables, for example , play station needs an HDMI only ,make sure whatever input the hdmi is in , , thats the input you use fot the play station .
it sounds like your using multiple wiring , im guessing because of the lack of info giving on your help request ,. make sure your using digital cabling for each device your hooking up. also , are you using a sound system , a tuner .... you should be using an HDMI or 2nd a component cable , those are the 2 best , all others are going to cause audio issues. give me more info and ill be able to tell you exactly how to fix your problem. good luck ..

have you tried connecting ur laptop via hdmi to tv? if it works you should probably check tv settings for hdmi, if not then it is possible that the hdmi controller from tv to have some problems, i had a similar problem with a philips tv and took it to service ending up in a total replacement of motherboard and led display

I don't have a direct solution but I am having the same problem when connecting (1) my Apple TV (2) my Blu-Ray player, etc. via HDMI. I also have a digital camera that puts out HDMI, and when I hook it up, I get the same story -- video only, no sound through the optical digital output of the TV receiver.

I am guessing that the HDMI inputs were an afterthought on this model, especially since the printed manual doesn't even show or mention the HDMI inputs at all! So my guess is that the TV's receiver does not convert the sound from the HDMI to the optical digital output. It does, however, send the amplified HDMI sound to the stereo speaker outputs on the monitor. It appears that only the digital tuner's 5.1 sound comes out on the optical digital output.

This is what I have observed, for what it's worth.

Hi,

Based on your query "...which jack...put the green cable ...", I would suggest that you replace that green cable with a 3.5mm Stereo Phone Male to Twin RCA Male as shown below.
19ba6b8.jpg. The stereo phone would match the green INput ((Front) of the Logitech X-540 while the twin RCA (white & red) would match the RCA AUDIO OUTput of the LG 37LC2D.
f133914.jpg
Of course hooking it up this way would not fully utilize the 5.1 features of the X-540 (Rear and Sub/Center) but the TV sound will come out of the front speakers.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.
