Question about Dryers
Have zanussi condenser dryer. smell of burning, found that belt just frayed ready to snap, main cyliner od dryer not turning but motor poering smaller wheel. but when i opened dryer i found a small white spool snapped in two, it like a mini ogre. any idea's what this off. and is dryer fecked as main drum not turning as belt is stil intact

has the belt shredded and wrapped itself around the shaft? try to manually rotate the drum to see if the belt is free and the motor shaft moves. it sounds like the motor is stuck and the smell is the uncirculated heat at the back. let me know your results.
taking the lid off will gain access.

The burning smell usually comes from an overheating motor. Onces it heats to a certain point, it will trip the thermal switch on the motor. Motor should be getting around 11 amps. Best of luck :)

you have to release the back and in some models you need to separate the switches at fron from panel
abyway the belt is very easy to change in the hotpoint as it just slips out
when replacing it make dure is back at right position otherwise will not turn properly
I do not do this any longer as lenghty and not more economical task

it is the drum gasket that goes round the inner drum that forms a seal and acts as a buffer for the drum to ride on if not replaiced the dryer will get noisy and wear the drum out they are stuck on with a glue
