Question about Kenmore 400 6943 Dryer

1 Answer

I HAVE A KENMORE 400 SERIES DRYER. THE LENT NO LONGER STICKS TO THE FILTER. WHEN I PULL THE FILTER OUT TO CLEAN IT, THE LENT SLIDES OFF THE FILTER CONTINUALLY CLOGGING THE VENT IN THE BACK OF THE DRYER. I'VE INSPECTED THE FILTER AND IT LOOKS IN PERFECT CONDITION. WHAT COULD BE CAUSING THIS?

Try cleaning the filter to remove any residue from dryer sheets (a dish detergent solution should cut the softener build-up). Be as gentle as possible. An old toothbrush is useful for this.

Also, a weak exhaust flow may be the culprit. Check the dryer vent line all the way outside for excess lint.

Your fan impeller (inside the dryer) may be loaded with lint, too.

My kenmore elite dryer that i bought 2 years ago lint trap corner is catching my clothes and tearing them. we had it replaced and its doing it again. I am tired of messing with it. Please help.

don't know if you already had this fixed, usually this is caused by not having your dryer cleaned out,the lint builds up inside the duct that the lint filter slides down into and has to be removed and cleaned out.also in some of the kenmore dryer ducts there's a metal clip inside the duct that can come loose and hold the lint filter up.these are the two most likely causes for this to happen.

Major dust under drum

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2bVoelV7M7Y watch video if filter is on top watch this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xGIG8Wo5-N4.if you have a shop vac and you don't want to pull the drum you can set the vac on blow and blow the dust forwards and then vac it up,also clean out the duct that the lint filter slides into, then check the vent line,if the vent line is long you can remove it from the back of dryer and then blow it out with a leaf blower, first go outside and make sure there isn't a cage or anything that will block the lint from coming out.hope this helps and good luck,if you have a gas dryer you should do this once a year, you won't have to worry about any fires and your motor and other parts will last longer because your clothes will dry on time,if something is blocked the wet clothes spin longer and can damage the dryer parts and you save money on electric bill.

Something fell in side the lent catcher on my kenmore 70 series dryer and now its making a very loud noise how can i take it out

Was it metal? Attach a small magnet on a thin stick or string and pull the thing out. Not metal? Something else to attach an object: sticky tape, wire hook.
No luck? Call Sears and ask their repair department for instructions.
Or call Kenmore customer service for advice.

I have a Kenmore 90 series dryer. I want to clean the lent that has accumulated. I want to remove the lower front panel to do this. How do I remove that panel

Get a putty knife or flathead screwdriver. There are two clips between the top panel and bottom panel about 3 inches from the corner. Push your screwdriver/putty knife straight in and it will release from the top. Give a little pull. There you go!

Kenmore 70 series electric dryer not coming on

next time send the model number,if it's not starting unplug the dryer,on top of the blower wheel housing there will be a thermal fuse,if the filter is on top it's behind the back panel of the dryer,if the filter is inside it's in the front of the dryer,it will be near the duct that the lint filter slides into, you need to remove at least one of the wires before you read it out with a meter,it will be a 3392519 or a 3390719,these are the two most used thermal fuses.let me know what you find,if it is the fuse most likely you need to clean out the dryer.blow out the vent line i use a leaf blower if it's long, clean out the duct that the lint filter slides into and vac out the inside of dryer where the motor is

How to open front of kenmore dryer to clean out lint

next time send model number, unplug the dryer,if the filter is on top remove the filter and the two phillips screws in front of the filter on the top cover,go to the front and with a screw driver pop the top up,there is a clip one on each side around two inches from each side just pop up the top,use the screw driver and slide it in between the plastic piece of the wire connector and pull apart the door switch harness on the right side,it's hard to just pull it apart, now you'll find a 5/16 inch screw one on each side around 4 inches from the top, take them out and pull the front panel up one side at a time, vac out the front of dryer,if you have a shop vac blow off the motor, alot of lint gets stuck in the motor, put that back together but don't put back the 2 screws on top,now slide out the dryer, remove the vent line and take off the back panel,on the left side you'll see the duct that the filter slides into, take out the 4 screws that hold it in and remove it and clean it out,put it back together,if the vent line is a long run from the dryer to the outside vent i use a leaf blower to blow out the vent line, check the outside to make sure nothing is blocking that, stick your hand in there or a brush and clean out the opening if it needs it.
if the filter is on the inside, remove the bottom panel, remove the lint filter, take off the duct that the filter slides into and clean it out,if you have a shop vac blow all the lint from the back forward so you don't have to remove the drum to clean it,again blow out the vent line if it's a long run.do this once a year so you don't have a fire and the dryer will run like it should and parts will last longer, good luck

Kenmore series 90 electric dryer: exhaust air is

that's normal, obviously you haven't cleaned out your dryer and vent line, nobody ever tells the customer when you buy your dryer that it should be cleaned out at least once a year so you don't have a fire more so if it's a gas dryer with an open flame inside the dryer, you gotta vac out the inside where the motor is,clean out the duct that the lint filter slides into and blow out the vent line,i use a leaf blower to clean out the vent line, take it off the back of the dryer, stick the leaf blower in the line if it's a long run if it runs through the wall and to the outside flapper and blow all the **** out of it,also if you have a shop vac put it on blow and blow off the motor, you won't believe how much lint comes off the motor even though it looks clean,so vac out the inside of dryer, clean out the lint filter duct and blow out the vent line

I have an Kenmore 80 Series Gas Dryer, the heat is not staying on. I've changed the heating element and no change. It heats up for 2-3min then turns off for 3-4min then restarts for 20-40sec. then off...

How are ya?

The heating element is supposed to cycle on and off to maintain a set temperature. If it takes too long to come back on again, then the thermistat is malfunctioning.

Take a temperature probe and stick it in the drum and let it run for a few minutes and note the temperature. Should be consistantly near 90 - 130 degrees. Good luck :)
