Glitch??? I just took my jvc deck out of my truck, and put it directly into my car. The wiring harness is correct, and there is power going through to it, but it wont turn on. If you click display, it shows the clock, or if u click eject, it ejects. There is no power control, no volume control and it doesn't play anything... im boggled, please help!

I have hooked it up to an external battery. Connecting the power wire and ground just to test that the wires are working. Again, the same thing happens, and this is without using the harness.

i sounds like you only have constant going to it, have you probed the harness to make sure both the red and the yellow are getting power with the key on? also that it has a strong ground?

Sounds like you don't have power going to the red wire. should be a switched power source so it turns off with the key.

Check for Audio unit fuse under dash fuse box, bcz if that fuse is not there or blown off then circuit doesn't complete and u dont get power from ignition. The battery power only shows clock and display for few seconds and used to retain memory. So check for the fuse under dash fuse box.

Im not sure if that particular model has it but, on most, if you unplug the harness form the back of the radio, there is a fuse hidden underneath. If that fuse is blown it could cause this to happen. Also, is there an inline fuses on the harness itself?

I have a 1998 Toyota Camry...Trying to hook up an Alpine...Need to know what wires to connect to the alpine.Car Wires are same with grey spots.....

From what I can tell you cut the wires to your factory wiring harness and that is what you want to hook up to. My advice is to reconnect the factory harness and buy the adapter harness for your car and use that to hook up to the alpine it will save you hours and possibly your sanity. If you want to hook up directly to your car without the adapter you will need to figure out what wires are the power ignition and ground with a multimeter or power light. Easiest way to find ground is to just put in a ground wire with in a foot or so from the deck. Then it's just a guess and check for the correct placement of power. I suggest turning the power placement on the deck to what speaker you want and repeat for all speakers until your finished. Or you can buy a Chiltons or Haynes manual the should have a wiring diagram

Wiring JVC car deck

Do you have factory infinity sound. If you do you need a another harness or bypass that infinity system. Also What year is the truck. I know for a dodge ram after 02 is a canbus system. When wiring in the harness leave the blue remote wire alone do not connect from radio harness to the harness that connects to factory harness. Unless you are running to an aftermarket amp. There is a brown wire also that you should not connect leave the remote blue and brown wires alone. this is atleast on a 02 dodge 1500 or newer and 03 or newer 2500+. not sure if this will solve your issue but it fixed my buddies.

You need to go to your local "best buy" or electronics store and ask them for your car's "stereo wire harness". This will convert the wires from your car to match all the colors from your deck. (green, purple, white, gray, blue, yellow, red, ect. Same on all after market decks. All brands use the same wires) Take that new harness and your deck harness, twist the matching wire colors together, tape them with electrical tape, plug the harness back into the car and deck, and it should be good. Click, click, done. Remember to plug the antenna in as well before you get the deck in.

If the wire your referring to is blue/white it is to cut on external amplifiers. If you go to and type in your model number there is a pdf file for the manual on the right hand side about half way down, it will also show you what accessories for ipod control.

My JVC KD-HDR50 was working perfectly up to a couple days ago. While driving it spontaneously powered down and back up again. None of my setting were changed. Later on, it powers down again and this...

did you hard-wire the radio(wired direct to your factory wiring) or use an integration harness to your vehicle? My first thought would be the wiring. Check mainly the yellow, red and black connections. if those are intact, next look at the harnesses, Be sure they are nestled together correctly, and all the wires are secure on both ends. If they are loose on the harness side, some hot glue should help to keep the wire in place. If the nestling of the harnesses is bad. then I would say just go get a new harness for $20 and re-wire it. You may end up with more problems down the road if you keep the same one and it's faulty.

If the wiring is all intact then my assumption would me the internal radio amplifier. They can spontaneously go bad at times, and cause an on then off again effect once it cools down. Sometimes off for extended periods of times as well. if that's the case. Just go for a new unit.

Jvc deck same problem, powers on and functions but no sound

the car is equiped with an amplifier. there is a black wire that you didn't connect. just connect it to the blue with white wire from your radio and it should work.
