how do you hook the four wire electric cable to - 5f73f71.jpg
To connect power cord:
• Remove the screws from the cover of the
junction box located at the top rear of the dryer.
• Loosen/remove the two screws on the strain
relief clamp and remove from 4-wire supply
cord.
• The strain relief splits into two indentical parts.
• Insert the large flange of both sections into the
hole located on the left side of the junction box
housing. The short flange of both sections and
screws must remain positioned on the external
side of the junction box housing.
• Insert the 4- wire supply cord through both
sections of the strain relief and re-install strain
relief screws, do not fully tighten until electrical
connections are complete.
• Attach the power cord ground conductor (green
wire) to the ground terminal marked with the
ground symbol. Tighten screw until ground
conductor is secure. (See Fig. 7)
• Attach the power cord neutral conductor (white
wire) to the neutral terminal. (marked N)
Tighten screw until neutral conductor is secure.
(See Fig. 7)
• Attach the power cord phase conductor (black
wire) to the phase terminal (marked L3).
Tighten screw until power conductor is secure.
(See Fig. 7)
• Attach the power cord phase conductor (red
wire) to the phase terminal (marked L1).
Tighten screw until power conductor is
secure.(See Fig. 7)
• Tighten the screws on the strain relief so that
the power cord cannot be moved.
• Re-install the cover of the junction box and
secure with four screws removed earlier.
• The dryer is now ready to be connected to the
power supply receptacle.

This is from the manual for the Danby DCD5505W. You did not give the model # so I went off of what you listed it under.

Good Luck and please rate 4 thumbs for the free answer.

How to connect the power to the dryer

most likely 240volts as most 120 volt dryers are already wired, depending on if its a 3 or 4 wire system depending on local electrical codes, but if its a 3 wire cord, take the RED to terminal L1 and Black to L2 terminal on the dryer terminal board HINT:(the RED and Black can go on either L1 or L2 they are interchangable) ,then the White wire to the N neutral terminal on the dryer terminal board usuall between the L1 and L2 terminal,if theres a Green Wire on the cord this is safety ground and can be attached to any metallic part on the dryer,if its a gray flat cord the 2 outside wires are L1 and L2 the center is Neutral,
so its:
RED=L1 or L2
BLACK=L1 or L2
WHITE=N or Neutral
GREEN=Safety Ground the metal dryer frame

Need to change to a 4 plug

BLACK TO L1 / RED TO L2 these are your 2 power phase wires and you actually can hook them to either power lug on the terminal strip, then the WHITE wire goes to the NEUTRAL terminal sometimes marked just N usually in between the L1 and L2 terminals, then the GREEN wire goes anywhere on the unit that that connects it to the units case which is the SAFETY GROUND

Which colored wires connect to the dryer?

I'm assuming you're referring to the 220 volt power cord. You should have a red, white, black, and green wire in the cord, or you may have 2 black wires and no red. The terminals on the back of the dryer should be marked with L1, L2, N, and GND (or ground)
Connect the white wire to N.
The black and red (or both black) wires connect to L1 and L2 in no particular order.
The green connects to ground which should simply be a screw in the sheet metal on the back of the dryer.
I hope this helps

There is no blue cable in a 220V, so you have only; white, black, red and ground always green colored wire.

Looking your plug frontal side.
Green Ground on top (semi-circle)
black on left
red on right
white on bottom (neutral).

Hi.i got a new dryer and its 3 prong but the house is 4 prong so i got a 4 prong and im not sure where the wires go. The diagram shows L1 N L2 than the green ground but the new 4 prong only has green red...

Ok. Let's simplify this for you. First and foremost you will want to remove the copper strip that goes from your center cord post the to case/cabinet of the dryer. This is to seperate your neutral and grounds within the machine. Some models used a green jumper wire instead of a copper strip but the idea is the same.
Now on the new cord the green (ground) wire is supposed to go to the connection point the copper strip used to go to on the cabinet. The white wire (neautral) is supposed to go to the center terminal connection on the terminal block and the red and black (L1 and L2) wires can go to either of the outside terminals.
The only difference in a four wire cord application is the segregation of the electrical neutral and the ground wires.
Good luck, hope this helps you!

depending on your local electrical code:and I see that the unit is 240 Volts A.C., then RED=Power/Black=POWER(L1 & L2)/WHITE="N"Neutral/and GREEN=SAFETY GROUND,on the new unit, then use from the wall power BLACK = L1 and White= L2. then on the unit RED=L1 and BLACK=L2(either way you hook these 2 up there isn't a polarity issue on these 2 wires) on the units hook-up/then use the BARE supply wire as neutral and tie BOTH WHITE and GREEN from the unit together to this BARE wire
