Most Maytag front loading clothes washing machines made with a "door locking mechanism" to prevent opening door during a spin cycle. The "door locking mechanism" adjustable and often continued slamming or hard closing of door causes misadjustment of "mechanism" preventing machine from sensing door "locked" and entering a spin cycle. Check alignment of latch mechanism. Machines also produced with a "creative fix" by either factory and/or service technicians using folded paper or cardboard behind latch mounting mechanism to align mechanism; over time paper or cardboard compresses chaning alignment. Check the mechanism alignment before checking electrical boards or switches on motor and belt drive..
