You need to hold down the power button and the "X" button then unplug your printer. Wait 10 seconds while still holding the buttons down. Plug your printer back in and continue holding the buttons. Wait 5-10 seconds then release and it should recognize your freshly refilled ink tanks! Works for me!!

I have an error message on my printer "Error:0x07a74dd6" please advise

1. Disconnect the Universal Serial Bus (USB) cable from the back of the product, but leave the product turned on.
2. Open the cover of the product and remove the print cartridges.
3. Close the cover and wait for the Insert Ink Cartridges message to display.
4. Disconnect the power cord from the back of the product and wait for one minute.
5. Reconnect the power cord. If the product does not automatically turn on, press the Power button.
6. Open the cover and reinsert the print cartridges.
7. Close the cover. If prompted, print a calibration page.
8. Reconnect the USB cable, and try to print a print job from the computer

if it don't work then try this

1.Firstly if the printer is connected to a surge protector or any kind of power strip disconnect it from there and connect the printer directly to the wall jack.
2.Even after that if it is not working then you can perform a factory default reset on your machine
a) Leave the printer turned on and then disconnect the power cable from the printer and then press and hold the # and 6 together at the same time while plugging the power cord to the printer and keep on holding the buttons once you see semi-full reset
See whether it works or not

b) In case if it does not work then perform the same thing but instead of # and 6 press and hold # and 9 and the display will read full reset

3.Also try to connect the printer in a different wall outlet and if possible try with different power cable

When I turn on the printer, it tells me that the right ink side (black)needs to be taken out and re-inserted. I did that, even replacing the cartridge and it didn't help. Can you help?

Hi I only found the may or may not work but it worth a try.

I pressed # and 3 at the same time while plugging the power cord back in

I then made a note of the following messages which display:

selftest
partial reset
initialization
initializing...
used black print cartridge (prompts you to press OK)
used tri-color print cartridge (prompts you to press OK)
displayed date and time as usual

Try the following steps
-disconncet the power cord from the back of the printer
-press and hold # and 6 key simultaneously
-while holding both the keys ...connect the power cord back
- release both the keys
...it will show initilaising ...semi full reset
- see if the error message still persists

Please goto the HP website and see if there is a firmware update for this machine. Download and you can also download the procedure.

It seems to be that it's a controller issue and reinstalling the firmware will usually resolve the problem.

Hope can be some help
