Question about Weber Q Grill

1 Answer

I have a Weber Q Grill. I haven't used it for a year. I have a new LP tank. I hooked it up and an insufficient amount of gas gets to the jets (holes) in the grill loop. Sometimes it flickers when trying to light it with match but goes out. Suspect a valve is frozen. No smell of gas no matter what setting

U are right the valve is the problem, the newer BBQ's use a new design safety gas valve, sometimes you can ge them working again by bleeding off the tank, they are not that expensive to replace, Walmart has them. try bleeding some gas off 1st.

Hello. I have Weber Summit 670 NG and I would like to convert it to LPG. I was told that it can be solved if I replace the NG Orifice with LPG Orifice. Is that true ? Where can I buy the LPG Orifice...

Ronni, unfortunately none of the Weber grills are approved for conversion from one type of gas to another. Each grill is tested and approved for it's specific gas type. Based on that, converting it, places all the liability on you, if something should go wrong. In addition, it takes more than just the burner orifices to convert a grill safely. With any gas appliance, always err on the side of caution and safety.

Thanks for choosing FixYa.

I purchased my Weber E-310 NG unit a year ago. I just moved and need to convert the grill to LP. Does Weber sell the conversion kit? if not what would be the best way to convert the unit?

Weber no longer offers or support conversion kits. If you do any conversion it will VOID you warranty!

That said, if you can find the parts online for the LP version of your grill you can convert it yourself if you are mechanically inclined.

You will need to change the JETS and the GAS REGULATOR. Unfortunately they do not sell official Weber Gas Jets alone. You will have to by the complete LP Manifold, valves and all as well as the Tank Hose with Regulator...

Make sure you are comfortable with all of this... Leak testing etc...

You may have luck finding parts at:

Can a weber spirit e210 natural gas grill be converted to LP gas? I won the grill but don't have natural gas at my home

Weber sells conversion kits. Basically, you need a new regulator and manifold to accommodate LP instead of the existing regulator/manifold setup for natural gas. Unfortunately, Weber does not sell their parts online. Their parts phone # is: 877-731-8081

My thoughts, are you turning tank off after cooking, not only turning of cooking valves but also turn off tank, if you don't gas will leak out. If you do turn tank off, then you have a leaking valve in the tank.

Won't light properly or vary the flame

Hello,
You're probably turning the LP tank valve on too fast. Close the tank valve, disconnect it and reconnect it. Then very slowly turn on the tank valve. Make sure all your grill knobs are closed. Light one at a time and turn to low setting. After they are all lit, slowly turn up the heat on each as needed. Hope this helps. Douglas

My weber genesis platinum gas grill won't get hotter than 300 deg

Are you using natural gas or LP gas. If LP, replace the regulator filter. If clogging, you won't get the full amount of gas.

Weber grill will not heat up, reaches 200F and no higher

Also, it has to shut down the same way every time you use your grill.

Here is a Tip to fix a grill that not getting hot:
1. Turn the gas valve knob off. then close LP tank valve knob.
2. Unscrew the plastic hose coupling knob from the LP tank. You may hear a slight "hissing" sound as pressure is released this is normal.
3.Wait a minute then screw the coupling knob back on to LP Tank.
4.With lid open.slowly open LP tank valve.
5.Relight the grill the proper way by turning gas valve knob to ON position while turning the igniter knob at the same time.
6.After you are sure the grill is lit preheat the grill for 30 minutes.

This was called purging the line or releasing the air out of the line.

Another thing your orifice could be clogged with spiders or dirt. If it is LP gas check to make sure your hose is not kinked.

Weber grill doesn't work at all

You sometimes can clog the LP Regulator.  Try removing hose back to nut fitting and creating suction, ( human or even better, a brake pump tool).  Otherwise go to Menards or LP Provider and buy a new regulator and hose, (pretty cheap usually less than $20). Try that and let me know.
