Question about Lexmark Wheelwriter 10 Series II Typewriter

When typing, all of the letters do not print,

When typing with the IBM Wheelwriter 10, Series II typewriter, all of the characters do not print, especially commas or dashes, and the type is spotty with other letters. I've tried 2 pieces of paper to make more of an impression, and it doesn't work. Suggestions? Is the printwheel worn out?

There are two possibilities, Most likely the print solenoid cap is broken but the solenoid may just be gummy. The sol. is just inside the L. printer side frame just L of the selection motor, just in front of and directly below the small blue rubber damper. Spray some WD40 on the rear of the solenoid. If that dosen't help we sell the solenoid cap with shipping and instructions for 20.00.

The most common problem is the platen (black roller) gets out of position. Be sure the black latches are aligned wuth the side frames then push down firmly on the ends of the platen it should snap into place.

try turning the machine off put a SMALL amount of oil on the large round rod running across the typewriter manually push the print head left and right a few times to see if it will loosen up. The problem is usually caused be drying oil you may consider having it serviced by a pro.
