What type of mac? May be its a dead PRAM battery (motherboard) you should be able to get 1 at radio shack and boot from CD to set clock.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

Mac pro wont start nothing happens power light stays on

this can happen if your hard drive is gone. Start will reinstallation of mac os from your CD etc. first. if that solves the problem Good!, otherwise change hard drive and reinstall mac os. Third reason why your Mac pro will do this is because of messed up mother board which can only be fixed by your local computer store etc.

Black screen with sound

Sounds to me like a fuse on the motherboard for the screen has blown or the LVDS cable is loose. You need someone near you with MacBook repair experience, as a technician I will not advise you to disassemble the unit.

Powers on but screen is blank

If the screen is black, then you will need to get the screen fixed. Try turning it on and waiting a while then turning up and down the volume. If you can hear the clicks then it is just the screen.

If the screen is grey blue or white try inseting the OSX disk then start up the computer holding down "C". You should be able to run disk utility from there.

Back up files before running HD Repair! (you may need to get someone to help you with this)

If this doesn't work you will need to take it for repairs.

Hope this helps!

I know it's a bit late to say - but when you buy from ebay always make sure you get the installations disks that came with the Mac.
You'll have to buy yourself an installation disk (if you are in the UK you can get them cheeper than from Apple at CEX.co.uk) they are standard OS installation disks (Ie. they don't include the iLife set but they do incude Safari & Mail and the other basic bits and bobs). You can get the Snow Leopard disk very cheaply from them or from Amazon.
It's much easier with the disk than the other way without.

Blinking file picture w/"?" On blue screen. Will not load OSX.

You could try to boot from the OSX DVD while holding the C key pressed. When you get to the Apple menu, choose the Disk Utility, but don't click continue after the first screen. Instead choose the First Aid tab and click Repair Disk. After the repair has finished, reboot and see if it helped.
