Question about Toshiba TDP-T30U Multimedia Projector

1 Answer

Power Failure, How serious a problem and cost?

I've had my Toshiba TDP-T40 DLP Projector for about 2 1/2 years now, Im on my second bulb. I've always ran it in economy mode for longer lamp life and I have never dropped it.

A few times my power to my house went out while i was using it and as a result it was not able to properly cooldown.

For about four months it has been having trouble powering up. It will whine as the bulb tries to come on and then the bulb will go out and the whine will fade, this will repeat over and over until the power light turns red, all other lights stay green. Sometimes it will turn on correctly after I havent used it for about 5 hours but it will never turn back on properly after recent use and its still warm. I'm dreading repair costs!

Hi there

You will either be replacing the Main Power Board or the Ballast Board ( Lamp's powersupply ) The symtoms you described sounds like a faulty Ballast.

Both of the above parts are fairly cheap to replace.

Toshiba TDP-P9 Lamp time reset

Hi,
I had sleepless nights with my customers TDP-P9 projector where I changed the lamp.
The lamp timer resetting gave me headache but now I finally solved the right combo:
1: Unplug the power cord
2: Hold down 'On/standby' 'Input' and 'up arrow'
3: While keeping the buttons pressed, insert the power cord and wait for the projectors led's to flash briefly and then power button to keep illuminated and then starting to blink.
4: Release the buttons and power on, it should now have 0 hours in the timer.

Standby light for toshiba

probably power supply or ballast (starts the lamp)

either would be $600.00 or so to repair, probably costs more than the projector is worth.

Have you contacted Toshiba? They will sell you a new fan. It is possible the power supply has a problem. Bulbs usually have a 90 day warranty. Contact where you bought the bulb. Prices are dropping rapidly for new projectors. Yoiu can buy a new oen for under 500.00.
