If you connect the computer to the router , it works.
That means the wired connection is OK.
Open the set up page of the router check the wireless settings of the router.
I think your network is secured and you are not typing the correct network key.
just open the router set up and check the wireless settings .

When I try to connect my router to my laptop, the 321 error screen appears after about a minute. It says my ethernet cable is not plugged in properly, but it definitely is. Even the connection lights on...

This is a well documented problem with linksys routers. Go to google and type in "error 321 linksys". You will have to manually configure the router as stated on the linksys forum posts.

KEEP GETTING ERROR 321 WHEN SETTING UP LINKSYS WRT54GS ROUTER

Router setup
If you are using the cd that comes with the router, that is the problem. You do not have to use the cd. Go to the control panel and un-install the program that the cd installed. then:
Shutdown your PC. Unplug the power from the router and the cable modem.
Wait 30 sec. then plug in the power to the cable modem, wait 30 sec. then plug the power to the router. Wait till you have "Internet" light then restart your PC. The PC should pick up an IP address and you should be able to get on-line. This is if you have a cable service provider. If you have DSL, the router needs to be configured with PPOe.
If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
Thanks, Joe

Please disconnect the USB cable that connected from the modem going to your PC. Now connect the ethernet from your cable modem to the Internet port of your router. Run the setup CD, that should guide you and will make you up and running connected to the router.

My computer can't connect to Belkin Router through the wired internet

if the installation cd is getting an error message, it's better to manually configure it.

since you are using a cable internet, you can start by doing a power cycle. turn off all the devices first. then turn on the modem, wait for the lights on the modem to power on. then turn on the router, then the computer

if power cycle will not give you internet access. follow the steps below.

- access your router's setup page. open a web browser and type http://192.168.2.1. by default there's no password
- you would be prompted with the setup screen, go to connection type under internet wan
- follow the instruction or if you have the option, just set it to automatic configuration-dhcp, then clone the mac address
- after that, click on home, internet status should be set to connected

hope this'll help you and just ask me if you have other concern

ciao!

CAN NOT SUCCESSFULLY INSTALL THE INITIAL SETUP.. HELP NEEDS..

Do you have your DSL set up with just the modem connected to one computer? You mentioned that "there is no internet connection problem without router". If you don't have the internet connection working without the router anyway, then how do you expect it to work with the router?

First, you need to make sure that you can plug in one computer to the modem and get an internet connection. This needs to be done with the Verizon Setup CD if you haven't done it already and by connecting your computer to the modem with the USB or Ethernet cable (you can use only one.) I would recommend using the Ethernet cable since this is what you will be using with the router. Once you have the Internet set up with one computer this way, then you can move on to the router.

Disconnect the computer from the modem and actually pull the power plug from the modem. Modems often will not reassign IP addresses when you change what device you plug into them, and thus need to be power cycled. Plug the ethernet cable into the WAN port on the Linksys (and make sure the other end is still connected to the modem) and plug the power cables of both the modem and the router back in.

You should now be able to connect your computer to the router with another ethernet cable (to one of the numbers ports, NOT the WAN port. This is reserved for the modem) and run the setup again.
