Washer has a water leak. Is it possible to lift the top of this top loading washing machine, a Maytag model LAT9406ABE so that I can see from where the water comes. It is not from the outlet hose neither from the inlet hoses.
Thank you
Jacques

lift the top first by 2 clip between top and front panel at 2 inch from each side with a metal plate, after removed the front panel 2 screw on the top, and just see where the machine leaking
possibility drain hose, pump, hose pump to tub, seal kit at the center top of the transmission.
The machine is leaking water from the bottom, I think the leak is in the area near where the motor is mounted. Before we noticed the water comes from underneath the washer, we smelled like burning rubber.
Use a putty knife at the top front corners to release the spring catches. Lift up the top. Examine the plastic thing that delivers the water to the tub, it may be cracked or out of place.
It sound like you have a bad float switch and it is not reading the water level right. If it is filling and wont stop then a possible new water valve is in order:) The float switch is locatted under the top panel of washer
Possibly rinsing with cold water, washing with hot.
Check inlet valves for leaks, especially cold (rinse)
Lift the top panel by inserting a flat blade approx 4" from each side at the front to release clips, then top will hinge backwards.
You can see the valves at the rear behind the drum..
You can run the machine with top lifted to see any more leaks.
Also remove front panel via 2 small screws to gain better view.
Possible that you would have a tub seal leak if it is only noticable during spin cycle. Possible that it "drips" slightly while in agitation, but not enough to notice it. While in spin mode you have a lot more parts moving as well as a lot more water pressure on the seal itself. Pump could also be leaking, but highly doubtful since it would leak a constant amount at all times. Good Luck!!! Jim
