Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

Hi, I purchased a Netgear WNDR3700 router and am now experiencing intermittent browser/internet connection issues, particularly when I'm using Google Chrome (it's happens less often on IE and Firefox). Of course after 2 hours on the phone and escalating the problem to a higher level, Netgear says it's my problem, not theirs, but I never had a problem with "server not found" and "page not found" etc., with my former Linksys Router. Netgear never wants to admit their products have issues when they can't solve them. The browser issues occur both wired and wireless and on several computers with different adapters connected to the Network so the issue is not discriminatory. I don't know if this matters, but my ISP is Wildblue (satellite).

Hello,

the problem should be from your ISP. Change the router and the problem would be resolved.

Good luck.

    Hi,

Thanks for your response, however, your solution doesnt' make sense to me. Why would you suggest I change my router if the problem is with the ISP?? When you say "change" your router, I assume you mean "exchange" it for another router and not "change" the configuration of the router?

Are you saying that the problem is between the ISP (Wildblue) and this particular router and can't be resolved outside of changing routers/buying a different router? I was hoping someone would have a workaround solution that wouldn't require me driving 3.5 hours back to the store where I bought it to exchange it for some other router or brand. As I mentioned before, the browser connection issues/my ISP did not pose a problem with my old Linksys router. I don't want another Linksys router because they seem to only last about a year before they fail.

I would appreciate you expanding upon/explaining your solution more thoroughly.

    Thanks again.

Using Netgear DG834 ADSL Modem, want to add a netgear WNDR3700 Wireless Router to act as an assess point

The simplest way to add more ethernet ports is to use a network hub and connect it to the Netgear DG834 instead of the Netgear WNDR3700. This does not require any configuration.

If it is this new I would suggest calling Netgear and have their support help you out. Due to the way their warranty works that would be best. I have a netgear router and hate it. I wish I had taken it back as soon as I had trouble. I also out sourced my problem and keep fooling with it, till it was to late to return it and the warranty ran out. Netgear is the hardest most difficult routers to deal with. May or may not work with AT & T DSL they will not tell you if that is the problem or not. Tell you it's your wireless phone or your neighbors who knows, In other words they do not know what causes these problems. Sorry for your trouble with Netgear.

I have a WNDR3700 V2 - Internet & wireless working fine. Email not working. Any ideas

If your internet connection is okay and you connect to your email is thru your web browser, (http:// or https://), the problem isn't with your router. Its most likely either a problem with the email service or you have a virus.

What email service are you using and what is the exact problem (can't login? can't access the website???)

NetGear Wireless Router - continous internet connection drops

Hi sharon,

If you  upgraded the software but still the connecitons is droping then contact the ISP (the internet service provider ), Because it is possible that they have something wrong thier side,,,THIS ISSUE IS KNOWN AS INTERMITTENT SYNC OR ROUTE,,, check the lights on your router , when the internet goes down which light changes,,,

and once you confirm that the problem is not with your ISP then you need to purchase a new router,

reply which is the ISP you are subscribing for.
