I have a Samsung DVD V8600 (combo DVD - VHS) and I have problems reading a burned DVD-R (sony). The DVD works perfectly on my computer and on my other DVD player (a Philips). What could be the problem? By advance thanks for your help

If there is nothing on the disc, it will read, "no disc". It will only read and/or identify discs with media loaded or burned onto it. Your unit is a player, not a DVD+R (recorder). Can record VHS, but not discs.
how do you have the combo connection and dish network hooked to the tv ? if you have an s-video , yellow RCA jack video or component video hooked to the same input then it will act this way, because two inputs cannot be on the same video input # on the tv.
is this what is happening? or how are you connecting it?
I had a suggestion that did work. Reach into the VHS compartment with left hand and press down toward the back of the tape. With the right hand press the eject button a few times and the tape did come out. I would not buy a Samsung product again. No help from their 800 tech support. No more playing the VHS side of the player. Lynn
