Question about HP w1907 LCD Monitor

1 Answer

Monitor stops displaying after a few minutes

My monitor will randomly stop reciving the display signal. I have tried the monitor on another computer with the same results. If I hook my wifes monitor (exact same model) to my computer it works fine. The monitor is not lossing power, it just losses the signal? I have tried both DVI and VGA inputs with the same results. Any ideas?

Are you getting blank sceen or getting the message saying noinput signal? Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed monitors to get some ideas what to look for: Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.http://www.badcaps.net

The picture board on your monitor is malfunctioning, since the power led or button is on and it randomly stop the dispaly signals, it means the picture board of your monitor has developed fault.

The best thing for you to do now is to take the monitor to a local repairer within your vicinity to help with the replacement of the picture board because the fault is not something you can fix yourself, in order not to complicate issues.

Take care.

The monitor for my Dell optiplex 745 computer shows, "no input signal" than proceeds to go to sleep a few minutes later. what can I do to correct this.

1)Make sure the tower is powered on
2)Make sure the video cord from the tower to the monitor is fully connected on each end
3) Check for bent pins on either end of the cable
4)Replace the video cable with a new one.
5)Try another monitor if you have one just to verify you don't have a bad monitor
6) If none of the above works then the video display from your tower has stopped working. Either take it to a computer shop and have them repair it or purchase a video "graphics" card and install it into the computer. That should fix your problem.

Why did my computer monitor stop showing an image?

Disconnect it from computer and power. wait 15 minutes and plug only the power back in, press the power on button. The monitor may display a message that there is no signal or something like that. If that happens the problem is either the cable or the computer. If you get no message then look for the menu button and press it to see if any thing appears. If not find the manual on line and read it. Many times monitors get over-driven by computers to the point that they can't display OR they self destruct.

Another way is to just unplug everything computer and monitor for 15 minutes. Plug in monitor first then plug in computer and press the power button, the display should display the booting information if the cable is good and the monitor is good.

My Samsung SA 300 led monitor was left open and unused for an hour. when I came back, the message "Check signal cable" was on the screen and the monitor would not display. I tried rebooting...

By 'open', do you mean the housing had been taken off? If so, and it worked beforehand and you did nothing to stop it from working... and the computer works with a different display... then I would guess that either static electricity got it or MAYBE part of the housing was being used as a heat shield for the power supply and something has over-heated.

The contract button seems to be stuck. Try pressing the button hard a few times and see if it helps. If the contract button still keeps poping up and it may be a physical problem with the button there.

Display changes color randomly

This would usually indicate a bad VGA or DVI cable since you have connected it to another computer with the same results... or it could be that the internal circuit is going bad.

Try using a different cable first. If that fixes the problem, then the cable is at fault, otherwise try cleaning the connector on the monitor with a small paper-clip or toothbrush and isopropyl alcohol while it is unplugged from power in case there is just a fouled pin hole in the cable jack.

Most likely the green signal (of the Red/Green/Blue [RGB] colors) is being interrupted on its way to the monitor.

I'm afraid you are dealing with a weakened Laser on the unit. The cost vs. benefit ratio of fixing this unit is not worthwhile.

You will find that there are newer versions of this device on the market less expensive than what you paid for the unit you have now.

Display goes black after 5 minutes

Repairing the DELL E171Fpc LCD Monitor with the complaint of display shutdown after few seconds (power LED still on) was not difficult. Normally when this type of problem happens, we would first suspect the inverter board, then the filter capacitors and lastly the main board. A defective in one of the lamps and a faulty TL1451AC PWM IC or inverter ic may caused the display to shutdown as well. If the lamp is defective, it will send a feedback to pin 3 or 14 of TL1451AC IC and caused it to stop producing output signal thus the display just shut off once you switch it on.
