Question about HP w1907 LCD Monitor

1 Answer

Monitor stops displaying after a few minutes

My monitor will randomly stop reciving the display signal. I have tried the monitor on another computer with the same results. If I hook my wifes monitor (exact same model) to my computer it works fine. The monitor is not lossing power, it just losses the signal? I have tried both DVI and VGA inputs with the same results. Any ideas?

Are you getting blank sceen or getting the message saying noinput signal? Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed monitors to get some ideas what to look for:http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/al... Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.http://www.badcaps.nethttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capacitor_p...

The picture board on your monitor is malfunctioning, since the power led or button is on and it randomly stop the dispaly signals, it means the picture board of your monitor has developed fault.

The best thing for you to do now is to take the monitor to a local repairer within your vicinity to help with the replacement of the picture board because the fault is not something you can fix yourself, in order not to complicate issues.

Take care.

Why did my computer monitor stop showing an image?

Disconnect it from computer and power. wait 15 minutes and plug only the power back in, press the power on button. The monitor may display a message that there is no signal or something like that. If that happens the problem is either the cable or the computer. If you get no message then look for the menu button and press it to see if any thing appears. If not find the manual on line and read it. Many times monitors get over-driven by computers to the point that they can't display OR they self destruct.

OR

Another way is to just unplug everything computer and monitor for 15 minutes. Plug in monitor first then plug in computer and press the power button, the display should display the booting information if the cable is good and the monitor is good.

Monitor keeps blinking every few minuts

Potential Problems:
Cables
One possibility is that your cables are messed up. The 15 pin connection cable could be malfunctioning. You should get a new cable and replace it to see if it helps your situation. If not, the problem lies somewhere else.
Environment
There could also be an electromagnetic interference affecting your computer. You should move the laptop around the building or room to see if the position of the monitor changes the flickering. If it stops when you change positions, then there is something in the virtual environment affecting your monitors ability to display properly.
Display settings
If your display settings are improperly set, then your screen could flicker as a result. You should go into your desktop main screen, click Properties > Settings > Advanced > Monitor, and set your screens refresh rate at around 85 hertz or less.
Video card
The other possibilities are that the video/graphics card that was integrated into your computer has stopped working. You should switch it out with a new one to see if this helps your situation.
Monitor
Try to plug your monitor into a different PC/laptop. If it works properly, then you have an internal computer problem. You should also update your monitor's drivers just in case.

The contract button seems to be stuck. Try pressing the button hard a few times and see if it helps. If the contract button still keeps poping up and it may be a physical problem with the button there.

Acer LCD Monitor only displays "acer" logo

You are correct, it could be a power surge that has caused it.

Try this..
Unplug the monitor from the wall.
Remove all the video connections at the monitor end.
Wait 10 minutes then plug the monitor back into the wall (do not connect the video leads)

Turn it on and see if it goes past the ACER logo now. If so, replace the video cables and try the computer.
If not, then one of these will apply and a tech will be required..
  1. The internal bios has been corrupted.
  2. The power supply inside the monitor may have issues preventing the video board from starting correctly. This could be as simple as a few failing capacitors.
Number 2 is the most likely cause with an Acer monitor though. Any local tech will be able to correct it fairly cheaply, but phone around for quotes..they can vary a lot.

SONY SLV-350P DVD PLAYER/VCR COMBO

I'm afraid you are dealing with a weakened Laser on the unit. The cost vs. benefit ratio of fixing this unit is not worthwhile.

You will find that there are newer versions of this device on the market less expensive than what you paid for the unit you have now.

Display goes black after 5 minutes

Repairing the DELL E171Fpc LCD Monitor with the complaint of display shutdown after few seconds (power LED still on) was not difficult. Normally when this type of problem happens, we would first suspect the inverter board, then the filter capacitors and lastly the main board. A defective in one of the lamps and a faulty TL1451AC PWM IC or inverter ic may caused the display to shutdown as well. If the lamp is defective, it will send a feedback to pin 3 or 14 of TL1451AC IC and caused it to stop producing output signal thus the display just shut off once you switch it on.
