Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

I recently purchased a new laptop, so this may be a problem with one of the settings (or something) on my new laptop. Here's the problem: I purchased a separate Verbatim hard-drive for use with my other laptop (with limited memory) and have stored many, many photos and some other valuable information on this 500g hard-drive. If this doesn't work for some reason or other, will I be able to rescue any of my files? The Verbatim is plugged in properly, and the light is on. My computer recognized the new hardware; however, it did not show up in "my computer." The message indicated that something might be wrong with the hard-drive. Any possible solution(s) would be appreciated. Thanks!

I can't seem to find a windows key. Is there any way you can describe this as there doesn't appear to be one on my laptop.

I recently purchased a new pc and I did have virus protection through bell with my old one. Does it carry over to the new one or do I have to do something to activate it?

You will need to install the software on your new system. I use Norton which means I log into my account and download it from there. Depending on your user license, you may need to contact your virus provider to let them know you purchased a new computer. They can help you get set-up. If you have a disk with the software on it, load it into your computer like you did for your old machine.

If you recently purchased it, just put it back in the box and take it back to the store for a replacement. I wouldn't bother tryng to fix it if you can get a brand new one that works the way it's supposed to.

Dell laptop

For brand new products I would first call tech support, there is a possiblity that something isn't quite right that is possible to dianose over the phone.

Second, Since it is a recent purchase, I would return it to the store [maybe a different branch, if closer to where the machine isliving] for exchange.

I had an issue with Vista and my video card. I had to go to the video cards manufacturers website and download the most recent driver for the card. Also if your game is open they won't let you exchange it for something else. I hope this works.
