Rudder systems on sit-on-top kayaks are not practical, but if one is made, it is made by the manufacturer of the kayak in question. I don't think there is....only the Hobie and a few others.

I have a very old Pungo. It recently slipped off the truck and drug for a short time on the pavement. It wore a small hole in the bow and took off about a 1 by 8 inch strip of bow covering. Would that be...

Plastic? Cheap and quick way would be to try to fill the hole -- small you said -- with good caulking and then stuff the inside of that end with a plug of something to support the seal. Duct tape on the outside to protect the seal.

Not sure what you mean about the bow covering.

New Pungo 140, rear bulhead behind seat is sealed with a flexible sealant with a tape. There are already splits and small holes through which water is already penetrating. Is it better to accept a new...

Brand new boat? Let them replace it, it's a manufacturing defect! The bulkhead probably was slightly too large or the sealant was poorly applied, either way you don't want the headache yourself. Wilderness systems and their dealers tend to be VERY reasonable with this type of problem.

If it were an older boat or one you had used extensively, I would recommend removing the old sealant and then laying down thick beads of a high quality silicone sealant such as Lexel on both sides of the bulkhead.

Water is entering into the stern hatch. The foam is not sealed to the kayak. I tried sealant bond and it did not work. What type of water glue can you suggest?

If it is dry, and you don't need to access it, about the best thing to use to seal it is silicone caulk. I paddle whitewater and that stuff is the bomb. There are some other glues (like the ones they use for foam pads), but they are extremely expensive. Tube of silicone 5 bucks. Also, in a pinch on the water, duct tape it.

1 week old pungo 100 and the stern bulkhead is seperating

This seems to be a general problem with Wilderness Systems kayaks. I never have gotten my Tsunami 145's bulkheads to seal properly after a bit over a year.

Take it to the place you bought it and ask them to re-seal it for you. The down side: even if they do it for you under the warranty, it'll still take a week for the sealant to dry.

When can I paddle with kayak?

You can, but it's all about compromise ? and safety. Generally, the shorter the boat the easier it will turn (great for rivers and white water), but the slower you'll be getting from point A to point B. The longer the boat (most sea kayaks) the better it generally tracks and the faster and safer it travels through water.

Length og a kayak

The longer the boat the faster the hull speed. So if your friends are paddling kayaks that are seventeen feet long and you are in a twelve-foot kayak, you'll be paddling much harder just to keep up. If you intend to paddle on smaller bodies of water, say ponds or small lakes where distance is not a factor, length is not so important. But if you live (or plan to paddle) on a bay, then you should consider more of a touring boat which will track straighter and move through the water with greater stability as well as speed.
