Question about Dishwashers

1 Answer

I have a Frigidaire dishwasher Model #that GLD2445RF alw ays leaves grit on the dishes. The heating element in the bottom of the unit is grey with a powdery substance flaking off of it. Does it need to be replaced? Can a novice do this, or is it time to spend the $50 for a service call? I've had it 13 months.

I have the EXACT same problem! The grit is whitish grey and there appears to be a coating inside the dishes (mostly on top rack). The heating element on the bottom is coated with a hard whitish grey substance that is CHIPPING off. Is it from our hard water? What can we do? Thanks

Figures just outta warr. if you have a meter you can remove the lower panel of d/w and depend on the model the heater wire connections are right there either on the left or right , you can see them from within the tub which end they will be on. a simple continuity teat will determine if its good or not, if you have continuity unit is good if not replace the heater. t hold down screws and wires, thinking you can handle it

Make sure you have the heated dry setting selected, use rinse aid at all times, and make sure the unit is getting hot. If it is not, or there is no steam generated when you open the unit after cycle - have a professional diagnose the heating element.

Hi,

I have an older dishwasher also and recently my wife also complained about it not cleaning right... so me being the man I am tried in vain to clean the things... Bought new spray arms online and installed them in minutes...now the thing works like new... However I have also found that if the heating element goes bad then that also can mess things up bad... So I would buy new spray arms, and also check out the heating element to make sure it is working... Here is a tip that will help you with the online buying...

Frigidaire Dishwasher Model GLD4355RFS0 Will not sanitize and leaves dishes wet ?

Hello,
One common issue on these units is the heater wire will fall off. If this happens, the dishwasher will not heat. Also make sure the rinse agent is full. On most of the newer dishwasher rinse agent must be used to help dry the dishes.

Dishes with a lot of water left on them. What's the problem? Heating element?

Yes. if this unit is not drying properly, it will be the result of a failed heating element. make sure you are selecting the correct drying method as well. if its on air, it will have a completely different drying time and attribute. if you are selecting the correct assisted heated drying method and, the dishes are not drying, replace the heating element.

***Using the proper rinse agent will increasing the drying performance as well.
