Question about Panasonic PT-45LC12 45" Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television
My parents have a 44" Panasonic projection HD LCD that has developed a red spot in the middle to right side of it. Anyone else having this problem. I am afraid that this is a light engine problem and nobody seems to want to help them. The place they bought it from refers them to Panasonic who refers them to a repair store who charge hundreds just to diagnose.
They have only had this tv for about 2 years.

Before I found this website, I called Panasonic and they told me they couldn't help me and to call my local service tech. So I did and they were going to charge me $250.00 to fix it and I had to take my TV to them. Well months went by because I just couln't afford it. Two more spots appeared and I needed this problem fixed. I turned to the internet for help and found this WONDERFUL site.
I then took all the information and called Panansonic again. This time I was on the phone well over an hour. I was very persistant and had all the facts about this being a manufacturer defect and that they were well aware of the problem and they had fixed others for free. I expected the same same service and wanted it fixed.
They switched me from department to department and finally with my persistant, I got them to agree to come out in fix it for free. They came out this with 3 days and my TV is fixed.
By the way my TV was out of warranty. I bought in 2005.

Call Panasonic...just like the other guys are saying, it could be a corrupted eeprom. Just had a local TV shop come to my house after the Panasonic tech support scheduled an appointment for me. I have had my TV since Nov 05 and they did for free. Took the guy 6 min to fix it. 3 min. to download the software to the TV and 3 more min. to install. TV looks good as new.

Call Panasonic!!! They know about the problem and will get a tech to come to ur home and fix it for free!! It takes 15 mins tops! There is a corrumption in an eprom!! I just had it done to mine!!

I called Panasonic and explained my green spot issue. The person put a supervisor on the phone without me asking and they are sending someone out in a couple of days to fix the TV. They did say that if the problem is not related to the spot I would have to pay the service fee. I had no issue at all and was on and off the phone in 15 minutes.

Had the same red spot also called Panasonic they directly connected me to a local TV repair shop that came out two days later and fixed the problem. I was not required to show or do any paper work. This was the easiest and quickest repair I have even known. The Panasonic person I spoke with advised me this is a known problem that they are covering out of warranty and with no questions asked.

Yes Yes Yes! Listen to the people about the EEPROM update. My 3 year old set was fixed under warranty, in my house, by a local repair person who was dispatched by Panasonic. I'm not saying it was easy, I made probably dozens of phone calls, but in the end its done, the spots are gone, and I paid nothing.

Don't waste your time calling panasonic, they will tell you to take it to a repair center. i did and they fixed my tv under warranty. (my tv is almost 3 years old) it's like the other guy posted, it's an eeprom update, covered under bulletin sb-b19-08-01. i had to pay upfront for one hour of labor but they put it back on my card after they fixed it.

THis is what two TV techs told me, it is the engine, a $600 repair. For a few hundred more you can get a new set, so off I go..

I know this is a long shot since this thread is 3 years old, but I'm desperate. To anyone out there that got their TV repaired for free out of warrnty, do you have ANYTHING to prove this? I am currently going to war with Panasonic over the three red and one blue spot that have appeared on my TV (purchased in 2006). I just want the same treatment everyone else received, but they are not helping. If I can provide even one example of them fixing this for someone else for free, I think they'll probably have to do the same for me. Help if you can, please!

Few colorful spots are appearing on the screen of my tv, blue and green, and i got it form a frn of mine. any suggestions.......................................................

a 6ya Technician can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
