Good day,
If the temperature in the freezer is good and consistent, then it is the dual water valve on the rear of the machine, that is not shutting off properly.
The system turns the water valve on for 7 seconds just before the ice maker parks waiting for the next harvest cycle.
Many times the valve will be too slow in closing or continues to dribble even though no power is being applied to it, thus causing the well of the ice maker to overfill and overflow.
Replacement of the water valve is the only solution and is a very common problem.

Now how do you replace the water valve? Is there a free manual online that can be downloaded? Where is the best place to purchase the new valve? I am having the same problem. Thx.

The valve is located in the rear bottom of the machine. Simple nuts and bolts replacement.
You will have to shut the water supply from the house before performing the repair.
Any decent sized appliance parts house will carry the valve. Take the complete model number of the machine with you or remove the valve and take it in. This is easy work with normal hand tools.

Icemaker not working...

Hi, first , pour about 2/3 cup of water into the ice maker . If if freezes , and dumps , replace the water valve. If it does not dump the cubes , replace the ice maker. After pouring the water into the ice maker , remove the bottom kick panel , and clean the bottom coils , of dust , lint , pet hair , etc , as this will raise the freezer temp . An ice maker has to be 5 degrees , to operate , correctly . If ice maker starts working , after cleaning the coils , GREAT ! ( it does happen ) .

Take care

Icemaker not working

Try filling ice maker with tap water and let freeze. If it dumps and does not refill with water the dual water control valve is at fault. If the ice maker just sits there full of ice and does not move then the ice maker and possible thermal fuse in red wire of the ice maker harness has blown. Let me know what you find, Sea Breeze

Kscs25fkss00 superba - water not flowing to icemaker but water dispenser works - there is not ice blocking line/tray

Most times that is caused by the dual water control valve on rear of the refrigerator. You can test the ice maker by filling with water and letting it freeze. If the ice drops then the valve is the problem. If the ice does not drop then the ice maker is were the problem is, Thanks, Sea Breeze

Ice maker is frozen in a kitchen aid side by side

Try pouring HOT water into the ice molds to release the frozen cubes. Hopefully the ice maker will restart the cycle and get back to normal!

No ice

The refrigerator has a duel water valve, one for the ice-maker and one for the water dispenser (if equipped). The valve that the ice-maker relies on may be bad, or it could be the ice-maker itself.
Another thing that could cause it would be the temperatures in the freezer. The ice-maker will not call for water until it reaches under 15 degrees. In addition, check the water tube behind the ice-maker to make sure it is not frozen, blocking more water from entering. The water does not go to the ice-maker or thru the filter unless the ice-maker turns on the water valve.

No Ice From Kitchen Aid

Mark, your water valve has screwed the pooch. Replace it. The part number is 2199838.

What's happening is this... the valve that fills your ice maker is by-passing a small amount of water. This water has to flow through that tube, right? When very small amounts (drop by drop) go through the IM fill tube, they flash freeze. Eventually they (the frozen drops of water) form a big block of ice inside the fill tube. This ice creates a blockage which creates back-pressure whenever the IM "calls" for water. The back pressure eventually blows the tube off of the connection behind the fridge.

You say that this happened over night... no way. If you look closely at the ice cubes that you IM has been making, you'll see that they are hollow. Hollow cubes means that your IM isn't getting enough water... (because the fill tube is blocked).

Kitchenaid superba KSRG22FKSS01 Ice cube switch trouble

Since its an indoor ice maker its much harder to diagnose. However the motor is supposed to reverse for crushed/cubed so you can hold the freezer door switch and see if it does. If it doesnt reverse it could be the switch, or it could be a mechanical problem inside the blades (check for broken stationary blades)
