Thank you for this. I'm sorry, I don't understand the terminology above so I can't answer your question. I don't know what a 'mapped network drive' is. I've decided to give up and return the webcam to the store. I can live without a cam....and the hassles of trying to get it to work.

    Thanks again for your responses.

Logitech QuickCam Pro 9000 v11.5 software loading problem

    Using a H P desktop with windows XP home and w/ SP3.
“Error 1327. Invalid Drive :L:\” when loading from supplied software disc. Same error appears when downloading software from the net. When trying - Go to my computer - disconnect network drive - it says ”You have no network drives to disconnect.”
    My Computer
    HP_PAVILION (C:)
    HP_RECOVERY (D:)
    DVD-RAM (E:)
    Removable Drive (G:)
    Removable Drive (H:)
    Removable Drive (I:)
    Removable Drive (J:)
WD My Book (L:) when back up is plugged in - otherwise (L:) does not show up on My Computer

When the stand alone back up drive USB is plugged in WD My Book (L:) appears with the other drives,

I have loaded this and am using, with absolutely no problems, on my laptop eMachine XP home w/ SP3.

    Please help me,
    RC

A system folder (for example, My Documents) is mapped to a
network drive that has the Reconnect at logon check box
selected may cause this type of error

or, The Logon and restore network connections
check box is selected when you log on to Microsoft Windows.

or, The system folder on the network drive was not available
    when you started Windows.

Do you have a mapped network drive?

Sometimes the drives are mapped, especially in a network situation.

This will tell you if your drives, folders, etc. are mapped.

left click on START, right click on MY COMPUTER, left click on EXPLORE, left click on TOOLS tab, left click on DISCONNECT NETWORK DRIVE.

Can someone help me fix this

Using a Webcam like Logitech QuickCam® Messenger onWindows Vista, Internet Explorer 7 sometimes an error such as0x80004005 / 0x80040606 appears.

Try this workaround and disable UAC.

Goto Start Menu > Start Search > type: "msconfig" >
Tools Menu > Disable UAC > Launch > Apply > OK > Restart.

In general though - you should not have to disable this security featureof Vista in order to install and operate the Logitech software.

If this workaround works, then it is a flaw in the program and you should contact Logitech customer support directly.

Sorry for not having "the" solution on hand, but I've seen many people having that problem. Some changed to a prgram called "splitcam" becuase they were tired of Logitech's sloppy software.

Web cam installation

I was having trouble to unistall it so I could get the Vista version but it was failing with this error. So after some research I found the solution by right clicking the PowerISO icon (small yellow CD icon) at the tray and selecting at the popup menu "Set Number Of Drives" to be 2 (I just had one) and it created the virtual drive (in my case H:\). You should set it to be one more than you already have, and it'll create it in seconds. Note: PowerISO is a Daemon application and there are many other ones that creates virtual drives for temporary cache files, such as Nero. Give a search on the keyword daemon and you'll find other ones. Now, after reinstalling the software it is crashing when I run Quickcam.exe. I reinstalled twice without success... any one has a clue?
Thanks!

Camera won't install on an XP Box

Apparently Logitech posts new drivers under the same name (ie quickcam chat), which are not compatible with older versions of that product. You can get the proper drivers here:
ftp://ftp.logitech.com/pub/techsupport/quickcam/qc848enu.exe
(Remember to uninstall the new ones first.)

Quickcam unavailable

have you tried directing Vista to search you Logitech installation disk?
Don't install the main software, just plug in your camera and then, when
vista asks for drivers, get it to search the logitech CD. This is what i did
witrh my logitech camera and it installed without any problem.
