When I plug a phone line into the fax its says memory in use and I can not fax

go to applications folder for your computer, dbl click printer/fax icon for make of printer. check settings.
lastly, go to web site of printer model and check site for trouble shooting if this does not work above.

HOW TO CLEAR MEMORY ON FAX MACHINE


Most likely the memory is full because your fax machine either can't print what is in the memory (check paper, ink, etc), or it can't send out faxes you've already scanned into it. (check phone line and ability to dial).
To clear the memory, unplug fax from phone and wall, wait 30 seconds, and plug back in.

Brother MFC-J5910DW printer wont fax


That message usually means you are not connected to a "live" phone line. Make sure the line is "hot" -has dial tone. Be sure that you have the line plugged into the correct opening marked "input", not the one that you plug a phone into.

My fax model is L-800, and is not receiving or sending faxes.the memory LED is on and green in colour. what could be the problem?


Have you tested the telephone line to see if it has dial tone. Unplug the fax from the line and plug in a analogue phone to test this.While you are there check the extension number with the phone to make sure you are still on the same number. You can do this by dialing any phone with a display ie a mobile.

Faxes going to memory and not being sent out of memory. No dial tone either.


Check the phone line with a regular phone plugged into the wall jack.

MFC-440CN PRINTER fax error


Plug a phone into the line and listen for static. Too many phones on the line, bad lines,etc, can cause a poor line condition. Try the unit directly into the phone line, no answer machine or anything else on the line. Maybe the memory thing is it has a lot of faxes that it hasn't been able to send.

L200 not functioning


Have you got anything else within the line with the fax machine that is maybe holding the line like a credit card machine or a phone? if so remove everything and just plug in the machine to a straight line.

This could be due to a memory problem, you need to do a function memory clear and this might clear your fault

I can receive a fax, but I am unable to send one.


1. make sure the phone line is plugged into the socked on the machine marked "LINE"
2. Is the Machine ID and Phone nuymber entered into the memory? If not you can't send. Thats a legality.

NG: POOR LINE CONDITION / OUT OF MEMORY


You can adjust the Compatibility mode. This adjusts the sensitivity of the machine to interference on the phone line by lowering the transmission speed:
a. Press Menu, 2 (Fax), 0 (Miscellaneous), 1 (Compatibility)
b. Press Up or Down arrow to select "Basic"
c. Press OK.
d. Press Stop/Exit.
e. Try resending the fax.
If the problem continues we recommend you try the unit on another line at the current location or another location. Always restart your machines after you made changes, that way you will see the results.

Some things to check are these.
1 Make sure your phone line is plugged into the Line slot and not the slot for a phone or answering machine.
2. Make sure the machine ECM mode is ON.
3. Make sure Secure Recieve is OFF.
4. Make sure the JUNK MAIL feature is OFF.
There also may be a memory reset procedure for you fax machine to clear and reset the memory.
There is a slight chance that your problem is the phone line. if you have a phone to plug into it, check for static on your phone line.
You can also try replacing the cord from the phone jack to the machine, they get noisy and cause problems at times.
Other phone line issues may be low line voltage, low line current and DB loss, that has to be checked by the phone company.

Memory full display when trying ty fax


Thks for the above info. Went to my 530 to fix same problem and didn"t work. Mem in use light kept flashing. Re-traced phone line and outside line and found they were plugged into wrong jack. Moved the phone to the phone plug and outside line to outside line, and problem gone. This worked for me but there may be other causes that will make this happen
