This is a recommended two-person repair job. Please read through the instructions carefully before starting the repairs, and follow any safety recommendations.

1. UNPLUG the range before servicing. There are dangerous voltages still present even with burners turned off.

2. If the old cook top is broken, you will need to get rid of a much of the glass shards as you can and thoroughly vacuum the area around the oven box. Use extreme care when handling broken glass. Wear safety glasses and gloves.

3. There are a few screws located under the front edge of the cook top. You will need to open the oven door to see them. Remove these screws and the top should lift up. If the range is not equipped with any kind of hinge supports, the top will have to be propped up.

4.On some ranges, there is a disconnect plug for the surface element wiring harness. If you have this feature, Follow these steps:

Unplug the cook top and leave the elements in place.
Place the whole cook top assembly face-down on a soft surface (like some old towels, or a blanket).
Remove the surface element assembly leaving all the elements wired together.
Place the new cook top face down in the same manner and lay the surface element with wiring harness directly on to it and screw in place.
Install the new cook top back on the range and you are DONE.
5. If the wiring harness does NOT unplug, follow these steps:

There are a series of screws holding the element assemblies in place. Leave these assemblies wired together for ease of replacing. It is recommended that a second person holds the assemblies in place to support the wires until all the screws have been removed.
Lay the intact element assembly, with wires still connected, on top of the oven box. Handle the surface elements with care. They are very fragile. Care also must be taken not to handle the element coils or ceramic material. Try to handle from the underside of the element only. Oil from your hands can cause damage to the element and/or premature failure.
If you have to remove the elements, individually, make sure you write down how the wires were connected to ensure you reconnect them in the right order. Make sure you also take note of the numbering scheme on the element and make sure you place the mounting brackets in the same holes that they came out of. Use care when screwing into the new cook top. CAUTION: The screw holes are usually painted and a little force may be required to thread the screws. Do not apply too much pressure on the glass, or you can damage it.
Prop the new cook top in place and install the surface element assembly from underneath. A helpful hint: Use some duct tape to hold the assembly until you have screwed it back into place. Don't forget to remove the duct tape when completed.
Lower the new cook top into place and secure with screws.

How do I replace the keypad on GE Spacemaker microwave model #JVM1650CH01?

The keypad is usually glued to a metal plate to give it support. You have to remove the complete control panel to replace the keypad. Remove the top grill across the top pf the micro. Make sure the micro is unplugged. Next, there should be 1 screw going through the top plastic of the control panel. Remove screw and then lift gently up on the complete control. It is tabbed into the micro body. Once lifted it should pull forward and hinge downward. You will now see the back of the main control board with wires and plugs. The best way is to make notes or take a picture of all the plugs before you remove them. Unplug all the wires and you should be able to lift the control panel off the micro completely and lay it face down on a table or workbench. You will see several small screws holding the main board in place and a flat ribbon connector about 1.5 inches wide going to a connector on the board. To remove that ribbon, lift gently up on the ends of the connector. It should lift about a 1/4 inch but will not come off. Once it is up the ribbon will pull out. That ribbon is the touch pad connections to the main board. Play with the old ribbon a few times getting it in and out. Now remove the main board and lay it aside. You can now see the metal box like bracket the touchpad is attached to. It is just held in place with plastic tabs on the control trim. Gently pry the tabs back while you lift out the metal box. If your new touch pads have the metal box just reverse the procedure to reassemble. If your touchpads are not on the metal box frame, you need to pull off the old one and carefully align the new pads to the metal frame. They will be self stick. Sorry this is so long but it needed explained. Most people can't handle this type repair and need service. You will need to decide.

Damper removal

Instructions

Unscrew and remove the front panel of your washer or other appliance by removing the screws using a standard size screwdriver. Use an adjustable wrench to loosen and remove the bolts securing the top cover to the washer turning them counter clockwise. Lift the top cover by hand.

Remove the three eye bolts underneath the washer and set them aside. Undo the drive belt by shimmying it off of the pulley using your hands.

Lift the front of the washer off the ground just enough to place a 4-by-4 piece of wood under the frame and under the pulley. This will allow you to reach underneath the washer or appliance to replace the damper pads.

Remove the old damper pads using rubbing alcohol or other solvent and remove them from the machine. Use a utility knife or razor to assist in removing the old pads. Use a clean cloth to wipe away residue that may prevent the new pads from forming a strong bond once applied.

Attach new damper pads to the machine base using a rubber adhesive. Position the pads 3/32-inch under the center of the base, leaving 5/8-inch between each damper pad. Apply adhesive to the pads and attach them to the base. Allow several minutes to dry.

Apply a small amount of silicone grease to the bottom of the pads using a clean cloth. Return the drive belt and panels back on the washer or other appliance.

Hello; Panasonic NN-H275 Over The Range Microwave - door stuck and cannot be opened. Thank you for your help. Regards, Vasily

Dear Vasilyk,
I feel your pain. I successfully repaired mine but don't know how long it will last (3 days now). Behind the touch pad there are two arms that the push button pivots on. The arm on the right was cracked where it attaches to the back of the touch pad. This allows the arm to move/give which shortens the amount of travel the button can make when you push it. After researching glues online I settled on hot glue to repair. I am hoping it holds up to the heat but from what I found out this is about the only glue that will stick to this type of plastic. I removed the back of the button and put a substantial amount of hot glue all around the base of the cracked arm and as far up the arm as possible. The arm is now stiff again and does not flex/give. I reassembled, and low and behold, it now works again. Like I said though, I don't know how long it will last and do not have a lot of faith in hot glue. I have called Panasonic numerous times to price the part but every time I call they give me a different part number with price varying $8-$40. To get the new arms I believe the entire touch pad has to be replaced. Also I could not figure out how to remove the actual button that you push without damaging it, which does not come with the touch pad. When I release it from the rear and try to push it out through the front it seeems to catch on a lip or something, did not want to damage it so gave up. The button does not need removes to repair but I think it will need removed to replace touchpad. Hope this helps.

What is the process for replacing the headlamp

Replacing headlamp bulbs
Handle a halogen headlamp bulb carefully
and keep out of children’s reach. Grasp the
bulb only by its plastic base and do not touch the
glass. The oil from your hand could cause the bulb
to break the next time the headlamps are
operated.
If the bulb is accidentally touched, it should be
cleaned with rubbing alcohol before being used.
To remove the headlamp bulb:
1. Make sure headlamp switch is in OFF position,
then open the hood. If you are replacing the driver
side headlamp, unclip the electronic module on the
right side of the battery and move it out of the way.
2. Locate the headlamp bulb through the hole in the
upper radiator support assembly.
3. Release clip and
disconnect the
electrical connector
from the bulb.
4. Remove the bulb
retaining ring by
rotating it
counterclockwise
(when viewed from the
rear) about 1/8 turn to
free it from the bulb socket, and slide the ring off
the plastic base. Keep the ring to retain the new
bulb.
5. With out turning, remove the old bulb from the
lamp assembly by gently pulling it straight out of the
lamp assembly.

To install the new bulb:
1. With the flat side of
the bulb’s plastic base
facing upward, insert
the glass end of the
bulb into the lamp
assembly. You may
need to turn the bulb left or right to align the
grooves in the plastic base with the tabs in the lamp
assembly. When the grooves are aligned, push the
bulb into the lamp assembly until the plastic base
contacts the rear of the lamp assembly.
2. Install the bulb retaining ring over the plastic base
until it contacts the rear of the socket by rotating
clockwise until you feel a “stop.”
3. Install the electrical connector into the rear of the
plastic base until it snaps, locking it into position.
4. Turn the headlamps on and make sure they work
properly. If the headlamp was correctly aligned
before you changed the bulb, you should not need to
align it again.

Brakes

OK GET A PENCIL. JACK THE CAR UP AND REMOVE THE WHEEL. REMOVE THE TWO BOLTS ON THE BACK-SIDE OF THE CALIPER. THEY MAY HAVE PLASTIC CAPS ON THEM TO PREVENT DIRT AND WATER TO GET INSIDE THEM. YOU MAY NEED AN ALLEN KEY TO UNBOLT THEM. THEN USING A FLAT-HEAD SCREWDRIVER BETWEEN THE PADS AND PISTON CAREFULLY PRY THE OPENING OF THE CALIPER OPPOSITE THE LUGS, TO LOOSEN THE PADS ENOUGH TO REMOVE THE CALIPER. SUPPORT THE CALIPER WITH A BUNGEE CORD OR ROPE TO THE COILSPRING. THEN USING THE OLD INBOARD BRAKE PAD IN PLACE, TAKE A 6 INCH C-CLAMP AND COMPRESS THE PISTON(S) BACK INTO THE CALIPER TO ALLOW THE NEW PADS TO FIT. P.S. AS THE OLD PAD WEARS, THE PISTON SLOWLY, OVER TIME, COMES OUT OF THE CALIPER TO GRIP THE ROTOR. OKAY THEN INSTALL THE NEW PADS MAKING SURE THEY ARE INSTALLED WITH THE BLACK STEEL SIDE NOT TOUCHING THE ROTOR. INSTALL THE CALIPER BOLTS AND TIGHTEN SNUGLY. YOU WILL NOTICE A SPACE IN BETWEEN THE ROTOR AND THE NEW PADS. GENTLY PUMP THE BRAKE PEDAL 2 OR 3 TIMES UNTIL THE PEDAL GETS HARD AGAIN. INSPECT THE PADS AND CALIPER, AND REPLACE WHEEL. REPEAT ON THE OTHER SIDE. BE SAFE WHEN JACKING UP AND WORKING NEAR A CAR ON A JACK. USE JACK-STANDS IF AVAILABLE. THIS SHOULD BE ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW. HOPE THIS HELPS. KEEP ME POSTED PLEASE. THANK YOU FOR AN HONEST RATING AND FOR USING FIX-YA. GOOD LUCK

I need to remove an old shower stall base.

if it is a fiberglass pan then use a saw to cut around the drain. lift the old pan out and cut the top part of the old drain off (i am guessing it is a black ABS pipe).
install a new drain in the new pan and dry fit it to the old remaining ABS. if it fits, remove, add glue and reset.
there are other steps involved but this will at least get you past the demo stage.

How to install Toilet Seat

Use a flat head screwdriver to pry open the plastic pieces that cover the screws. Using the same flat head screw driver, unscrew the large plastic screws holding the old seat in place. There are usually plastic nuts on the underside that you can hold on to while removing the screws. Remove the old seat. Clean the area where the screws were and dry thoroughly. If the new seat has an adhesive pad, remove the covering from the adhesive and put the seat in place. Thread the new screws through the holes and attach with the new nuts. If there aren't new nuts and screws, you can use the old ones, provided they weren't damaged during removal. Snap the caps covering the screws on the new seat in place. Be careful not to over tighten the screws! Since they're plastic, they can be easily damaged by a screwdriver!
