Hi,
Yes, but you do not want to run it from one of those little lamp extension cards...make sure that the cord that you use is at least 14 ga. wire and that it is not any longer then it really needs to be....

What volt extension cord should I use with this unit? Also, is volts the same as amps?

Voltage and amperage are two different things. Most dehumidifier manufacturers do not recommend the use of an extension cord (check your Owners Manual). However, if you were to use one, it should not be longer than 6 feet and should be a minimum of 14 gauge wire with a ground.

Hope this helps and thanks for choosing FixYa.

When running it will cycle and dim lights. Sounds like it bogging down. Is this a thermostat issue?

When you say, "Dimming the lights"-- are you talking about the lights on the unit?- or on the House wiring circuit?
Tell me more about what else is running on this circuit?-- Like another fan-- or several lights?

Tell me more about your term: "Sounds like it is bogging down"-- Was the unit reunning fine, and THEN started to Bog Down?-- Or does it bog down right from the starting up on the unit?

Can you read the name plate on the unit?-- How many amps does it draw?
Are you running it right from a receptacle?--- or from an extension cord?-
is the cord a nice heavy duty cord?
It sounds like you are not giving the unit sufficient amps for the work it needs to do.

Tell me more-- let's see if we can fix this dehumidifier! :-)

Fan not working

THE FAN MAY OR MAY NOT HAVE OILING PORTS ON THE MOTOR. IF NOT, THE MOTOR NEEDS REPLACED. IF THERE ARE OILING PORTS ON THE FAN MOTOR, TRY SPRAYING SOME WD-40 IN THEM AND THEN ADDING SOME LIGHT MACHINE OIL TO THE MOTOR. THE OILING PORTS ARE SMALL HOLES AT EACH END OF THE MOTOR WHERE THE MOTOR SHAFT EXITS THE MOTOR HOUSING.
