turn on/off, unplug, wait a minute, plug back in, should reset.
take all paper out. check to see if any paper is jammed in the rollers
go to application folder for your computer, dbl click icon for make of printer, check settings, check to ensure everything is order. in same area, check scanner options.
lastly, check make of printer trouble shooting web site for more information, hp has an awesome site for trouble shooting this problem
hope this helps, good luck.

My fax machine stays on and I can't print somethings. Everytime I try to print something the "FAX" machine window opens up....instead of the "PRINT" window. I clicked on the little arrow by the printer...

Hello,
Try this.. Go to start, devices and printers and you will have a few things listed in there that are related to your printer. Most likely it will say document writer, fax and your hp printer. Make sure that the check mark is on your printer, not your fax. This indicates what your default printer is. To change this, right click on your hp printer and select set as default printer. Once this is set try printing again. Let me know if this works, if not we will try step 2. Hope this helps!
