If your water pump has never been changed its a good bet that it is leaking. they are designed with a weep-hole that leaks to warn you that the bearing is going out. You can also verify if the bearing in the water pump is bad by grasping it at any two opposite sides and try and see if you can move it... even a little slight play indicates that it is going bad. if not the pump leaking the cleanup the engine, being careful not to spray water onto your alternator.. then get the car to normal operating temp and look for awhile at all hoses even the ones that go to the a/c heater system. another quick check is to look for crusty deposit buildups on any hoses or lines and then get the car hot and monitor. When i had a leak, it was from a small heater hose and it was a misty spray, i only found it when the engine was running. After you've corrected the problem and the engine is cool take radiator cap off and fill with 50/50 mix antifreeze. Also if you're going to change the pump out i would also change out the thermostat and replace the radiator cap if it looks a rusty and corroded. Can you rate this,,,,thanks!

95 Chevy caprice leaking antifreeze from what looks like a pipe under the engine.. But the serpentine belt is wet & spraying antifreeze, so wherever it's leaking from, it's hitting the serpentine belt

Your water pump has a small hole on the top and the bottom of the housing right behind the belt pulley. This is known as a weep hole and is there to let you know when the front seal has gone out of the pump and it is in need of changing. You really want to get this taken care of because on your engine the ignition system is ran off of the crank pulley and is known as "Opti-Spark" when the system gets antifreeze in it it usually goes bad. The Opti-Spark distributor sits right underneath the water pump, so a leaking water pump soon will take out your distributor which is another added expense.

How do I check the water pump to know if it is good or bad?

If its driven by the serpentine belt you can use a breaker bar to see if you got some play on the poulie of the water pump and check for leak if its driven by the timing belt not mush to do except look for a coolant leak ill give you a video example you didnt say wich model you had

Freeze plug

The passenger side of the engine is also where the water pump sits.
The freeze plugs would be along the block between the engine and the radiator and between the engine and the firewall.
The water pump would be behind the serpentine belt or the timing cover depending on which engine you have.

How do I change the water pump on my 2000 chysler grand voyager

3.3 AND3.8 ENGINES TAKE OFF SERPENTINE BELT 15MM ON BELT TENSIONER . REMOVE 2 HOSES OFF PUMP. 5 ?BOLTS AROUND WATER PUMP. IT WILL COME OFF WITH ANTIFREEZE LEAKING OUT. HAVE DRAIN PAN UNDER . ALSO IT IS GOOD TIME TO CHANGE THE LOWER HOSES. REINSTALL WITH NEW GASKET, FILL SYSTEM, PUT HEAT ON HOT AND RUN UNTIL THERMOSTATE OPENS, AND CHECK FOR LEAKS, TORQUE IF NESSESARY ( ENGINE OFF)!!REFILL AT SIDE TANK

Leaking from water pump and timing belt is slasded

If you are losing antifreeze out of the water pump, then that is a sympton telling you it's time to replace the water pump. When you say the timing belt is slashed up, do you mean the serpentine belt that runs the power steering pump, ac pump, alternator, and water pump or have you actually torn the engine apart enough to see the timing belt?

If you in fact mean the serpentine belt, chances are it's torn up because either antifreeze got on the belt making it slick enough to get off track and when they get off track, they can get slashed up pretty quick.

Good Luck

Is it true that i'll need to pull the timing belt to change my water pump, I've never herd of such a thing

No. The timing belt goes near but, not into the same area as the water pump. Possibly the timing belt cover will need to come off though.

Have an antifreeze leak

The water pump is located on the passenger side of the vehicle, directly inboard of the strut tower. If you look at the serpentine belt it is the more central of the pulleys.
Good luck, let me know.

Serpentine belt broke and i think the water pump is bad

The battery light and brake light are on because the belt isn't turning the alternator. The house with columns means it is low on antifreeze. You need to put the belt back on an check for antifreeze leaks. I would say you waterpump likely locked up and roasted the belt and that is where the antifreeze is leaking also.

1995 dodge dakota antifreeze leak

Check out your freeze plugs. They are thin metal cups that press fit into the side of the block. Use a mirror and a light to inspect while the engine is running.
