Question about BenQ FP91G+ 19" LCD Monitor

Open Question

Does not turn on, no green power light. Previously, had the brightness menu popup on screen a couple of times, couldn't figure out why ! I've now got the power supply panel out but can't see any visual problem signs (burnt out components etc). I took out power transistor K3530 and tested with multimeter but not sure of results. From center leg to left hand side leg have reading in one direction only (which i think is ok) but have open circuit on the other leg. What do you think ?

Can you send me pictures both component side and solder side so I can guide you better? budmrtn@aol.com Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed monitors to get some ideas what to look for:http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/al... Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.http://www.badcaps.nethttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capacitor_p...

SOURCE: Benq screen shuts down when pc is plugged in

If it's a 71g and not 71g+ resolder transistors 2sc5707 on invertor board along with grey condensers and inverter transformer. This should solve the problem if it was display shutting off with power led remaining on.Otherwise check power section.

SOURCE: benq 937s monitor stopped working. Green light on but blank scree

I have the same problem and have gotten it fixed twice. Going to be my third time now. Every time, they replace a costly part. I've submitted multiple emails during it's warranty through the tech support form at BenQ's official website and never once gotten a reply.

To solve this problem, pay to have it repaired and auction it in a yard sale to cover the cost. Then never buy a BenQ again.

Try changing your display time out to something longer. Select menu-> settings-> display -> screen timeout -> pick something longer.
You can also set your brightness to not automatic. Within the same display menu, select brightness and uncheck the automatic brightness box. See if that works.

My set has a RED background on all Inputs--DVD,Sat, Recorded DVR.....when playing a DVD a Bright Blue FBI screen is normal and the Bright Green Movie Rating Screen is Normal but the picture is RED....

I found a way to get into the service set-up....press Display, 5 ,volume + and Power.....green numbers come up---could figure out how to go to a Menu-----but somehow the picture is now perfect !

Anybody know why this fixed it......as I said the RED background was on all input screens....the screen with no signal was a solid red instead of Black......

No backlight

A couple things to try:

1st check the backlight settings

Turn on Backlighting and Control Brightness To use your device in dark environments, enable the automatic backlighting feature:
  1. From the Jump screen, press MENU t02003-15.gif then select Settings > Battery & Display.

  2. In the second group box, select the Turn on backlight when using device check box.

  3. Highlight, then select the Brightness slider to open it for editing. Roll the TRACKBALL right to increase brightness; roll the TRACKBALL left to decrease brightness. After you've made the adjustment, press the TRACKBALL to exit edit mode. t02007-55.jpg

  4. Select the length of time you want backlighting to stay on from the Turn off after pop-up menu.

  5. To use the device's light meter while the backlight is on, select the Use ambient light sensor check box.

  6. Press JUMP t02003-14.gif to return to the Jump screen and save your setting.
Now, when you press any button or key, or flip open the screen, backlighting will turn on for the set amount of time. Note that as long as you press a key or button before the set time elapses, the backlight will stay on.
Tips:
  • Even if you have not selected automatic backlighting, you can turn on backlighting at any time by pressing MENU t02003-15.gif + JUMP t02003-14.gif . The backlight will remain on for the time specified in the Backlight Turn off after pop-up menu.

  • When in key guard mode, you can turn on the backlight by pressing the RIGHT SHOULDER t02003-66.gif button.
If it still does not work, then you can try resetting the flex cable to the lcd.

Reseat the SidekickFlex cable

If that doesn't fix it then a new lcd assy will take care of the issue. they run about 45 dollars on ebay.
