Question about Haier HSP03WNA Compact Refrigerator

1 Answer

The PTC on my Haier HSP03WNA has went bad I contacted Haier and they can only sell me the part if I buy a $300 compressor for my $100 fridge any suggestions? It is just a small plastic part that hooks onto the start and run connection on the compressor and has a single wire going to it the other wire hooks to the overload on the common terminal. I know that this is the bad part because I have 2 of these and removed the 1 from the good one and got this one running. But now I have 2 fridges and only one PTC. Thank you for your time. Kevin

SOURCE: fridge won't quit running and get cold

2 common problems that unit has. 1 is the cold controls go bad and will cause the unit to either run or not run. 2 the freezer drain gets blocked up very easy and when the freezer defrost the water has noplace to go but the freezer bottom and could block the air passages so the cold air will not satisfy the control. so check the freezer bottom by removing the plastic peice on the bottom there are 3 plastic plugs in the front that secure it and some phillips screw in the middle. you can just lift it to check for ice. if there is none replace the cold control. good luck

SOURCE: Haier HVT 12ABS fan runs, but fridge does not get cool

Hello warmfridge
happy to assist you,

You said,
We've had this wine fridge for about 3 years now, and all of a sudden it stopped getting cold. We still hear the fan turn on and all appears to be running smoothly but it remains room temperature inside. Does anyone know how to fix this? I have no experience, but would like to try rather than buy a new one. thanks!

1. You may need to add freon.
2. It may have a faulty thermostat.

It seems you need hands on service!

SOURCE: Compressor non start, overload cycling

you may want to try a 3-n-1 hard start for your compressor.the 3-n-1 has overload, relay and capacitor in one unit.very easy to install.it is possible your compressor has froze up.but worth a try.you can pick one up a your local appliance parts store.directions are on the bag.

THE LIGHT COMES ON INSIDE THE FRIDGE, THERE IS STILL SOUND BUT THE FRIDGE IS NOT COOL AND THE FREEZER HAS DEFROSTED.

either the evaporator coil in the freezer wall has iced up and cant blow cold air and needs the defrost heater and thermostat checked(hint:rear wall of freezer will have snow/ice/frost on it)if this is the problem, otherwise the ptc overload relay on the compressor is bad and the compressor cant run correctly,if it just keeps warming up,then this is the culprit and a new ptc replacement easily plugs in where the old ptc was

I have a Haier Model BD00T0E0200 that is getting power, the compressor is warm to the touch, is clicking occasionally, but does not cool. Any suggestions?

Hi and welcome to Fixya. I am Kelly

First of all unplug the unit for at least 30 minutes and let the compressor cool off. That clicking your hearing is the "KliXon" thermal overload trying to protect the compressor because it is not starting.

Failure of a compressor to start can be caused by several things.

1. A bad PTC Relay / KliXon mounted on the compressor
2. A bad run capacitor
3 The bad news... a LOCKED rotor in the compressor.

There is one other possibility and that is that the power cord plug is not making good contact with the wall outlet terminals. (very rare that this happens)

Just make sure to unplug the unit for at least 30 minutes. Use a fan for cooling the compressor if you can by just pointing it toward rhe area of the compressor. After 30 minutes plug the unit back in and cross your fingers...... If it starts your in luck... If not then your going to need to service the unit.

Again thanks for using Fixya and if you need further assistance just reply here. We get notified of all responses. Kelly

Haier hsp03wna not working

The click you heard is the thermal overload. This snaps open when the compressor is too hot.
Unplug the unit for 24 hours and don't move it.
Then plug it in and see if it comes back on temp.

Haier aficionado model AES44BPG compressor wont stay on

Hi,

I had the same problem. Mine turned out to be the PTC starter. Checked the compressor coil resistance and it ws fine. Replaced the PTC starter with Item #: 1268268 from Repairclinc.com and it started right up. The PTC starter was an exact replacement.

Hope this helps some else trying to solve this problem. To bad Haier doesn't offer this part!!

Problem has returned to Maytag fridge

I note this is a very old post. The compressor is not starting and what you were hearing was the PTC relay energizing followed by the KilXon thermal overload kicking off the compressor start sequence. What happens is that the PTC relays sometimes get a heated contact. Due to the weakened state of the contact it can cause a buzz. Even with a goo PTC relay you would hear the compressor buzz if it was not starting. In that case the run capacitor may have failed or the compresor rotor is internally locked at which point the start cycle will repeat every 3 to 4 minutes as the thermal overload cycles and the compressor will not start.

Thanks for choosing FixYa
