I would first try a simple reset. To do this turn the PS3 on my pressing the power button, except hold it down, keep it held until it beeps again and shuts down.

Once it shuts down from you holding the power button, turn it on normally and see if your video settings have returned.

I have a 47 inch Philips HD TV. I switched to FioS and for some reason, some channels come in very choppy or pixelated. It is not consistent but by analog TNT is fine but my HD TNT is pixelated. But my...

Long story short, it is not your fault. Your provider will blame you, TNT, will blame your provider, and both are wrong.

The most likely cause is HD TNT is not a "real" HD channel. It is probably an SD recording TNT is upscaling from SD to HD. This can occasional create a dirty HD signal being broadcasted. Some TVs have trouble decoding this signal and end up with pixelated images because the image has been pre-stretched to fix the format.

Temporary solution would be to change the resolution of you TV for just the TNT channel. Some TV will let you select a preferred mode for a channel. If you can do this, set it to 720p instead of 1080p or try 1080i for TNT to see if this improves the image.

Also make sure that only one tuner is altering the images you are receiving if you have a FIOS box. If it is processing the image image in any way (color correct, resolution, etc.) turn those features off and let the TV do it.

Are you using the AV connector cable? If so look on your tv for an av channel. Best thing to do though is Try using a HDMI cable. Most tv's recognise when a HDMI cable is plugged in and the tv switches automatically to the HD channel.
Hope this helps.

I have a Marantz SR5004 AV Surround Receiver. There is an HDMI cable from the cable box to the Marantz and another from the Marantz to a Samsung HDTV. Everything is fine when the cable box is set to an HD...

Hello First off i would determine if the same thing happens when the cable box is connected directly to the TV with the hdmi cable.

If the picture goes out get a new box from your cable company.

If it works fine then its time to call Marantz

My Denon avr 4310 does a similar thing and after a lot of research it seems that the problem is with how digital signals are sent through the HDMI cable and how the control board of your receiver processes those signals.

Here what I mean

HDMI is meant to simplify connections by transmitting video, audio and CONTROL signals through 1 cable.

The problem becomes when you introduce a "middleman" in this case your receiver the control signal doesn't always get interpreted correctly.

My TV has the capability to "turn off" the "control" signal coming through the cable if yours does try that first (i have a sharp 52" led) this solved some of the issues.

My receiver has the capability to accept different inputs and merge them so here is how I get around the problem.

1. I use HDMI for video signal but also use the optical for audio this allows me to send the "complete" hdmi signal through the receiver and to the TV this complicates things but also allows you to get audio through your tv speakers so if you want to watch something late at night you aren't waking people up when the receiver gets loud. This stopped things like the video flickering or turning off.

You will have to play with your menu's to see if you can do this on your unit.

How to fix this easily? Dump HDMI and use component (red, blue green RCA's) for video yes its still HD and yes you will have to run audio separately. but it eliminates all the digital processing issues that receiver manufacturers haven't worked out.

I was pretty upset when I spent $1500 for my Denon receiver and Denon then told me that HDMI doesn't always make anything better.

Hope that helps

Ps3 starts and the green light is on but no image omes up on my

Try connecting the PS3 to your TV with a scart cable first and go to the appropriate channel. The problem you are facing is probably because the default output is not HD. So you must change it to HD you can do this by going on your PS3 display settings, whilst your operating on standard definition, AV1 or something like that. When the you are on display settings plug the HD cable in the PS3 while still being on AV1 and then plug the cable in, this may prompt a message saying that a HDMI device has been detected and you can change to HD, if this message appears switch to the HDMI output and then select yes and automatic on the PS3 for optimal settings in HD. If the message does not appear then select the HD output yourself after plugging the HDMI cable in and then change to the channel and do the same.

Ps3 start up promlem

so if you have ever had your ps3 connected to HDMI (HD cable) before, and your forgot to change it back to the normal cords that came with the game (yellow, white, and red) then you will have to connect it back up to the HDMI and go to the Display Settings and change your video output to the one that came with the ps3 (which looks like just one yellow in the settings.) then after you do that then the screen might go black if your HDMI and regular cable are on a deffirent channels, so you turn to the channel that the yellow white and red cable needs to be to, then it will show the screen and ask you if you want to leave it at this setting with this video output/cable then you say yes then your good to go.

Ps3

You could have the wrong AV channel on your TV to the slot you have you PS3 plugged into your TV with.

Or you colud have set your PS3 to a HDMI setting while using a non-HD TV, I think there's a way to reset this setting on your PS3, check the manual.
