Question about Canon PowerShot A630 Digital Camera

1 Answer

Have put fresh batteries in my canon a630 and fired off 3-4 shots when the camera tells me to replace the batteries. The camera then shuts down. A meter tests the batteries ok. What can I do to fix it? Roger

Did you tried to use strong Duracell alkaline ...or something much relieable?? I have about the same problem with a philips (Lumix) it eats batteries about in an hour..if they are good ones...and it is just the way they work ..if they are cheap ones its stays about 15 minutes than beeps and thats all...
another thing when yo do not use the camera remove the batteries from inside..(you never specified how far apart in time you took those photos ) ...cause even if you do not make any photos..if you let the batteries inside for about 24 hours they are gone...This new digital cameras have some consumers inside even in shut down mode..
so ...if they were cheap batteries..and you took the photos in a 12 hours interval..this is not a issue ...but just the way they function ...
Buy some good ones...or chargeable ...ones...they are available on the net ..try on Ebay ..and get about 8 if you use 2 at the time ...this will give you the independence from the source for a few hours..
http://shop.ebay.com/?_from=R40&_trksid=p3907.m570.l1313&_nkw=rechargeable+batteries&_sacat=See-All-Categories
take a look in this list ...and after that search there for a charger too..suitable for the batteries you get ...

1) press the power button for a moment
2) confirm that memory card is securely closed
3)batteries loaded in wroing directin
4) batteries ARE not the same right type , use only alkaline or NImh
5)insufficiente battery voltage.

Ecently a small dull black dot has started appearing on my canon power shot A630's lcd screen but when I review the pics taken prior to when I noticed this problem, no dot appears.

1) this is indicative the lcd camera has been faulty.
2) you must replace it.
3) contact your company supplier, and get the parts, you can do it yourself, only need small screwdrivers and common sense.
God bless you

A630 will not power on. Says batteries are dead.

You have to clean your battery compartment contacts. To do this Dampen a Q-Tip swab with rubbing alcohol and clean the contacts well. Also you'll want to clean the battery and charger contacts as well. Thank you, Dana

Power Shot A630 does not tell how to get the pictrues in the comp

hi there!

.in ur power shot search for a small compartment that holds a tiny rectangular shaped MEMORY CARD.
.remove the card and stick it into a card reader(a narrow slot) that is connected to your computer.
.next goto Start -> Accessories -> Scanner and Camera Wizard
.Choose pictures and move all the pictures into one folder on your computer.

A630 clicks and wont take picture. Stays in preview mode.

Do you mean you are expecting it to show the photo that you just took for a few seconds before it goes back to preview mode? There's a menu setting which I think is called "Picture Review" and you can set it for something like 0, 2 seconds, 5 seconds, something like that.

I hope that was it.

Battery drains quickly

"It shouldn't do that." But you already know that. Even with everything "on" in the camera it still shouldn't do that.

I think you need to try a) alkaline batteries and b) new NiMh batteries. If it still persists then your camera has a deeper problem and needs to be sent in for repair.
