It depends on what kind of dryer it is. The most common dryers require you go from the inside to remove the drum then the belt. Other models require you to remove the front face then continue to the drum and then back bearing. In any case there is only 2 ways to put on the belt as well. The most common application of a belt in a dryer is through teh back small plate located on the bottom right or SOMETIMES from the front but not common.

I'm looking for a manual for white Westinghouse spacemates 3 to change dryer drum belt

You can do it without a manual. Unplug the unit. Remove the screws on the back that hold the top lid on. Look down inside the back and you will see the belt running from a pulley on the motor to a large pulley on the drum. It may has the access through a rear panel. Most don't need an adjustment for tension, just peel the old one off if necessary and replace the new one. Take the serial numbers etc off the plate on the back when you look for a new belt. Check the drum and motor rotate smoothly before fitting the new belt.

Electrolux mex731cfs4 change dryer belt

Unplug unit from the wall.

Slide the unit forward until back and side are accessible if necessary disconnect dryer duct and washer water lines).

Remove the vented plate on the back to access the motor and idler arm using a LARGE Phillips-head screwdriver.

remove broken belt.

Remove 10 of the 11 screws holding the top on (leave the center front one; undo the front corners last, taking care not to let the front panel slip forward - it supports the drum).

Open the dryer door and gently pull the front plate forward, supporting the drum from the inside with one hand so it doesn't fall

Work the belt around the drum and between the front of the drum and the front panel. Held it mostly taut around the drum to slide it back to the existing belt mark. Grooved rubber side of the belt goes on the inside.

Push the front panel back into position while seating the drum on it. Temporarily attached the top with two back and two front screws. (The front panel overlaps the top; the top goes over everything else.)

Route the drive belt left-to-right over the idler arm pulley, pushed the idler arm to the left, route the belt around the motor shaft and then up over the drum.

The idler arm should (a) press on the OUTSIDE of the belt, (b) take up all the slack in the belt, and (c) not touch the motor shaft (touching it is what causes the awful noise). The belt should contact the motor shaft past the two nut-like things on the shaft (not between them).
reverse the removal process making sure all is connected again and all screws are in place power unit to test

I have a model TEDS680EQ0 Estate (Whirlpool) electric dryer. The drum has stopped do I open the dryer to check the belt.

I have a TEDS680EQZ, it may be the same.
(1) You need to remove the lint screen,
(2) remove the two screws and place then somewhere they won't fall and get lost.
(3 & 4) Slide a metal spatula into the right and left front corners of the lid and push in gently while lifting the cover carefully.
(5) After you have the lid open have someone hold it it up or prop it open. Using a 5/16 nut driver remove the two screws (one on each side) and insert the pointy tip of the spatula or a small screwdriver into the wire harness to separate the two ends.
(6) Remove the door while holding the drum with your hand inside the drum. Slide the Front panel upwards and away to remove it. DO NOT let go of the drum this will be a pain if you drop it.
(7) have some one take over holding the door and look below the drum near the rear.
(8) the belt probably slipped off and is now wedged between the big roller at the top of the assembly. These are slightly springy so you can manipulate it to get the belt back to where it is suppose to be.
(9) Put everything back in the reverse order and you are back in business.

Maytag dryer , drum not turning , belt broke

remove the two brackets on the back holding the top cver to the rear back cover. One screw is on each bracket. Next pry the top covers front section. It has hold down springs keeping it on. They snap right off. Now remover the front outer panel to gain access to the drum. You will need a new tensioner pulley and a belt to fix your dryer. The inner roller bearing is dried up and a replacement is needed with a new belt as well

Not too bad. Unplug. Remove three screws along back, at top edge. Stand in front of dryer and, using the palms of your hands, push back sharply on the top (L & R sides) to slide it back about 2 inches, then lift top off. Remove 2 phillips head screws at 5 and 7 O'clock position behind door. Remove screws holding top control from top corners. Pull top of control panel loose from retaining clips along top. (watch for sharp edges) Set control panel on top of dryer. Remove 4 screws now accessable at top of front panel. Un-plug light, door switch, lift front panel off, and unplug sensor at bottom. Set front panel aside. Remove 4 screws at front of side panel holding front bulkhead (with drum rollers attached), lift up bulkhead and remove. Reach under drum to unhook belt. Remove drum. The hardest part is pobably hooking the belt back on with the tension pulley while reassembling. On a scale of 1 - 10, it rates about a 5.5. First one might take an hour and a half. If you've done a few, you can knock 'em out in about 20 minutes.

Changing the belt

Models vary but most will have front panel come off(including door). To do this remove the screws holding the top of the unit down and tilt this backwards and support it so it doesn't come crashing down on you. Remove the front panel retaining screws and the wires to the door switch. Remove the drum, locate the idler pulley. Install the new belt around the idler pulley and then install the belt over the drum. slide the drums back into place. Rotate the drum by hand until you make a full revolution to ensure the belt isn't twisted. Reinstall the panels and you are back in service

Need to change the belt, I gotta get the shell off but it's hard

First and most important, REMOVE POWER! Then remove the two hex screws below the bottom front panel. Then remove the two screws below the bottom of the upper front panel. Then remove the four screws that hold the panel the front of the drum rides in. Under the drum you will find an idler arm and pully by the motor, push up on the am and remove the belt. Next take the belt from the motor pully, after this you can slide the belt from the drum. I doubt if it is the belt. Look on the front panel that had the four screws. It has two rub strips that the drum rides on and a felt ring. I suspect that these are the problem.
