Question about Washing Machines

My Hotpoint Ultima WT960p works in all ways but drum doesnt move!

My Hotpoint Ultima WT960p works fine but the drum does not rotate. I can select any program from the menu, the machine starts, it will fill with water, the timer will count down, the machine then empties itself, but all the way through the cycle the drum remains motionless. The belt has not broke. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    hi.

I van confirm that the motor is not running. The belt is not broke and the pulley is fine. I have turned the drum by hand and it turns freely. Its as if there is no power going to the drum.

    Thanks.

Hi, Thanks for the reply. I have checked everywhere in the machine but cannot find the sheet that you describe.

Is there anyway to check the power to the ECU board? Is the ECU the circuit board that is on the front of the machine or is it located somewhere else.

    Thanks in Advance.

Have you retrieved the tech sheet out of the machine and run any of the diagnostic tests on this sheet? its usually under the top cover or on the side, inside the unit, it sounds as if maybe you aren't getting the 3phase motor power off the e.c.u. board to power the motor, this board takes single phase power and converts it to 3 phase power to change the direction of the motor so that it doesn't need a transmission that would do the same

Check the motor whether it is running or not while the washer is going through the cycle. The motor might be running but the belt is slipping, the motor pulley is broken, or the drum pulley is broken.

In relation to my previous post, are you confirming that the motor is running, the belt is not slipping, the motor and the drum pulleys are not broken? If that is so, how could the motor run without turning the drum and the belt not slipping? Please clarify and provide more information as much as you can.

Turn the drum by hand to check if it is turning freely.

What you need to check is the power from the electronic control to the drive motor. It seems that the motor is not being powered up either due to a faulty wiring harness connection, a fault motor, or a faulty electronic control. But the electronic control should flash a code if the motor or the connection is at fault. The control is most likely at fault losing its ability to detect that the motor is not running. The electronic control is where all the working components are connected including the circuit on the front.

The function of the electronic control can be verified by disabling a working component such as the drain pump or the water inlet valve. Shut off the water supply then run the washer; it should flash H2O.

Error code F08 FLASHING WILL NOT SPIN

The pressure switch is stuck and the machine thinks it is full of water. You need to remove the top, look for the pressure switch and unplug the hose on it and blow air through the hose. Then replace the hose on the switch. It looks like this: http://www.yourspares.co.uk/parts/hotpoint/washing-machines/wt960p/parts/ys56011/hotpoint-wt960p-pressure-switch-spares-C00194160.aspx

Check the motor and the belt on the back of the unit behind the rear plate. Make sure that the belt is attached and the motor is spinning. If this helped please rate. Thank you

Hotpoint wt960p lcd display very dim ...machine works fine otherwise

Assuming that there is no provision for a panel darkening mode...the panel LCD is probably bad. You might try accessing the unit and unplug/replug in each connector. Sometimes, this will help. Be sure the wall plug is removed before doing this.
