I have the factory PDF service manual for this model. Ibm/Lenovo SMs are basically impossible to find. They are very detailed, show assembly and disassebly and have specs and diagrams. I don't have a download link for you

I am having trouble running setup on my desktop

To resolve this problem, replace the missing or corrupted Ntfs.sys file:
  1. Use the Windows XP startup disks or the Windows XP CD to restart your computer.
  2. When the "Welcome to Setup" screen appears, press R to select the To repair a Windows XP installation using Recovery Console, press R option.
  3. Type the number of the Windows installation that you want to access from the Recovery Console, and then press ENTER.
  4. Type the administrator password when you are prompted, and then press ENTER. If no administrator password exists, just press ENTER.
  5. At the command prompt, type the following commands (press ENTER after each command): cd \windows\system32\drivers

ren ntfs.sys ntfs.oldNote This step renames the corrupted Ntfs.sys file to Ntfs.old. If the Ntfs.sys file is not found, the file is missing.
  6. At the command prompt, type the following command, and then press ENTER: copy cd:\i386\ntfs.sys drive:\windows\system32\driversWhere cd is the drive letter for the CD-ROM drive that contains the Windows XP CD, and drive is the drive where you installed Windows XP.
  7. Remove the Windows XP CD from your CD-ROM drive, type quit at a command prompt, and then press ENTER to quit the Recovery Console.
  8. Restart the computer.

Ibm thinkpad t23 shutting off after 10 minutes or so

Your CPU is overheating and the solution is a laptop cooling pad which will save you the cost of another motherboard.

Dryer gets hot and shuts off after five minutes,

Check your vent tube to make sure it is clear. It is probably getting to hot because there is no ventilation to the outside. When you have the front off, check all the way from the lint filter to the outsid of the house.

T23 Thinkpad turns off during boot after restart

My guess would be ;-
A power supply problem with the battery and/or power adapter
The most likely one.
The CPU is overheating and shutting down and if you wait a while and it will power it up again, it will then run for a while and shut down again.
This can be caused by a faulty fan (its not spinning and needs to be replaced) or the vents are clogged with dust (needs to be cleaned and you may need to remove the fan assembly to do this).
