Check for a stuck key. Usually something like the shift or enter key catches a bit more air and gets stuck. Just push each key down and you should find one that sort of clunks down. It should work after that.

What do I do when my typewriter types different letters and symbols than the keys being hit

Turn the machine off then on or hold down the "code" key and hit Q "reset" key to get the machine to type the correct keys. This usually happens because something interferes with the free rotation of the printwheel. Check to be sure the ribbon and corredtion tape are installed correctly and check to be sure none of the "fingers" on the printwheel are bent outward. If a finger is bent, bend it back. If everything looks okay, the board or power supply is going bad.

Your typewriter may just need some lubrication. using a 3 in 1 house hold oil, add a few drops to each letter arm at the bottom where it connects. If possible, use a compressed air source to blow out the entire unit (wear saftey glasses of course), the lubricate the moving key areas. This is the best case fix, worst case would be parts need replacement.

I am typing and I get numbers instead of letters. Is there something I can change

Hi,

You have accidentally turned the Num Lock on.

Now depending on the model there are a couple of ways to turn it back off.

1, just hit the Num Lock key and see if its off (type something)
2, Hold down Fn and hit the Num Lock key, again type something.

Regards.

While i am typing i see letters i didn't push

Thru experience, I've learned, that you have to Clean the Keyboards. Check to see if there's something stuck in it. Turn it over and hit it softly, then take a can of air and blow on it.

Good Luck.

Keyboard Doesn't Type Correctly

you probably have something (such as food)stuck under your keys, so when you push down it pushes the board further, so it hits multiple keys. otherwise, you bent your keyboard and need to bring it to a store and get it fixed

Keyboard is messed up

Try looking here to see if any of the keys are set wrong.
Normal 0 If you are then go to Control Panel.
1. Click on PRINTERS.
2. When the Printer Properties come up, CLICK on KEY SETTINGS.
3. Then set up the keys by selecting the key to be setup.
Hope this helps. Bud
