Question about Sceptre X240BV-FHD LCD TV

1 Answer

When i load a DVD, I get a split screen and a large PSCAN!

I moved and when I hook the DVD player to the TV and loaded a DVD, i got a split screen and a large yellow message in the middle of the screen that has an exclamation point and the letters PSCAN. is this an issue that can be fixed with the tv remote or are one of the wires misplaced in the tv or dvd player?

Probably fix it with the remote. Look up progressive scan in your manual, and turn it off.

My memorex combo dvd & vhs player is not working right. can you help me? the vhs player works fine, but the dvd player display's a split screen on the tv with a large yellow box with the word PSCAN....

PSCAN is a short form for Progressive Scan - a line scanning format used for High Definition TV. Standard TVs use Interlaced scanning. On your DVD/VHS player, the VHS is an analogue signal recorded in interlaced mode so is fine for a standard TV. The DVD is a digital signal and cazn be processed for progressive scan output in order to produce a better picture on a High definition TV (or a TV capable of handling progressive scan). If you cannot to your TV via the HD outputs then you should be able to set the DVD player to output interlaced instead of progressive scan.

Memorex dvd player pscan split screen

I work for Memorex technical support. Our customer service phone number is 1-800-919-3647.

On the back of your player you should see a switch that can slide back and forth that's marked PSCAN. Slide the switch into the opposite position from which it's in now. The should solve your problem.

If you feel this solution doesn't deserve a good rating, please let me know why so that I may better assist you. If there is anything more I can do to help, I will!

Split screen with pscan warning on

I had the exact same problem and I consulted the manual. All you have to do is turn the PSCAN swtich off. It is located on the back of the dvd player. Then turn the dvd player back on and your problem should be fixed.

Text looks awful on monitor - not a ClearType or videocard problem Hey guys, Background: I recently built a new rig and I'm using a new video card - Nvidia 480. On the video card end it's connected with mini-HDMI and on the monitor it's connected with HDMI. My monitor doesn't have DVI and my previous computer didn't have HDMI. The monitor is a Sceptre X240BV-FHD and has a ATSC tuner. I think that's the culprit. The problem: The text looks overly sharp and pixelated. It's hard to read. BUT if I play a video game it works fine. The screen is too far zoomed in when set to 1080, which is what the monitor natively supports. I fixed that with the Nvidia control panel, though. What I've tried: I'm currently using the latest driver: 296.10 I've tried adjusting the cleartype settings. The cable is OK because. I just bought it from I've also used DVI-HDMI and that didn't work. I've tried adjusting all of the monitor settings I can... nothing has fixed it yet. There is a generic driver for the monitor, but that's what it was on the old rig also. If I take a screenshot to post on here, everything looks correct. So, I think the video card is sending the correct information and the monitor is goofing. But I understand it can be caused by EDID flags the monitor is setting. I've hooked up my video card to other computers and it looks fine. I've hooked up another computer to my monitor and it also looked screwed up. Notes: Oddly, I've used DVI-VGA and that fixes the problem... but then that introduces problems with HDCP while trying to play Blu-Ray movies . Does anybody have any ideas? Thanks, Joe
