Main Screen as in Desktop?
If yes check of the HardDisk is Installed/or in Good Condition;;
if yes Instal thea new operating System on your computer.

Good News! Any brand PCMCIA wireless adapter should work fine with your IBM ThinkPad 600E 2645. The main compatibility issue will be more of what operating system you use, what processor your machine is running and how much memory you have installed. Some older PCMCIA wirless card models may have issues with Windows 7. Check the manufacturers compatibility labels on the product packaging and make sure your computer meets the minimum requirements for the card. Also, if you want better performance, Wirless G adapters are also available in USB as well and tend to be more stable and relaible. As with PCMCIA - make sure the adapter is compatible with your operating system and your computer meets the minimu system requirements.

I recommend Netgear, Belkin or Linksys brands for performance, availability, service and affordability.

This sounds to me like either your flourescent lighting tube is beginning to go bad ,,, or the inverter is going bad ... or even both. :-)

The cheapest and easiest solution for you is to simply replace the LCD screen (replacing the inverter or the tube are actually a bit cheaper, but not quite as easy to do - most computer repair centers will try to talk you into a new screen anyway). This is actually very simple for either you or someone you know who is an avid "do-it-yourselfer". IBM makes ity very easy. You will find easy, detailed instructions in the ThinkPad 600/600E (2645) Hardware Maintenance Manual, IBM S10L-9619-03 June 1999 available for FREE downloading in .pdf format on IBMs website. Remember you can always connect an external monitor to your ThinkPad until your new screen arrives if you have one.
