Remove the spark plug and pull the engine through a number times to expel any accumulated fuel from the crankcase and cylinder. Hold the throttle wide open and choke off while doing this. Lay the spark plug on engine metal (wire attached) and check for spark--it should be blue and snappy. If the engine has a compression release, it may be plugged with carbon--clean or replace. Check the air cleaner and muffler for any plugging. With luck, this should get you running. Hope this helps!

Chainsaw runs fine but the blade slows down to stop when i cut

too much load (too large a cut), dull chain, no lubrication oil on chain, slipping clutch.. lots of reasons.. need more information and you need to check all the points I mentioned. The clutch is RPM dependant- once the RPM drops- the clutch will start to slip. Look for oil or grease on clutch shoes also

My chain wont tighten on my stihl 044 chainsaw

Assuming you have the right length chain and its not just running out of adjustment, it would then probably be a stripped or snapped chain adjuster. Can be coursed when the bar nuts aren't dun up before starting to cut, the force of the chain saw will snap an adjuster no problems. If its striped it might smear like its adjusting in but when it gets to a point it will just stop

Not enough oil getting to the chain, check the oil flow, hold the tip of the bar close to a tree stump rev the saw, you should see a good line of oil on the stump srayed from the end of the bar, if not the machine is not oiling, drain the oil tank, fill with a suitable cleaning fluid, give it a good rinse out, and try again.

Hi, my name is chris and i own a 460 rancher. just today the saw started to bog down when a load was added to it. seems to run at max rpm with no load however once touching the wood it will start to bog...

Hi Chris,
Check the air filter is clean and the choke plate is working ok.
Ensure the chain is sharp.
Check the chain isn't damaged and dragging in the guide bar.
A blocked muffler/silencer can cause loss of power.
Try screwing the "H" mixture adjustment screw in with the engine running at full power to reduce the richness of the mixture. Do this 1/4 turn at a time. Ensure you count the number of turns so you can get back to where you started.
